Best Class for World Content?

Before anyone says paladin, i hate paladin. Only reason its my main rn is because I thought I would like it but ended up hating it and have been too lazy to level my alt.

Anyway, whats the best class/spec for casual/world content. Also, whats the best caster class for that type of content. I’m expecting rogue to be the most common answer here tbh but I prefer casters over anything melee.

Only thing is a lot of caster classes require some form of wind-up which isnt very good when you’re going between mobs constantly.

Thanks!

My personal ranking:

(1) Warlock
Affliction Warlock is the first one that comes to mind for me. In world content, you can pull as many mobs as you want at range while moving with the instant DoTs Agony and Corruption, then spam talented Seed of Corruption to finish them off if they are clustered, or Malefic Rapture if not. Warlocks also have Drain Life to keep themselves alive and have a tank pet, which helps to solo rares or elites. Destruction and Demonology specs are good, too, but do have to stop to cast more often.

(2) Balance Druid
Balance Druids are also pretty convenient in that they have 2 instant DoTs to pull as many mobs as they want, and can AoE at will. They also have beefed up defense from Moonkin form and can off-heal. Starfall talent and Resto affinity talent help with big pulls. Endurance conduits are also currently great to automatically heal you when your health gets low, and boost the effect of that heal. However, many players do not currently enjoy the Balance Druid’s eclipse rotation in Shadowlands, so do try the spec out before committing.

Note: Ramp-up time is an issue for these casters in competitive instanced content, but in world content they can actually clear mobs faster than many melee specs because of the way they pull mobs at range while moving and efficiently kill them. Melee specs can also be squishier in solo content than some casters because flat damage reduction and health income matter more than Armor.

(3) Elemental Shaman
Elemental Shamans are great overall, but surprising squishy when undergeared because the damage reduction from having Mail armor is not as impactful as Moonkin form, for example. Also, Flame Shock has a CD, so you end up having to Frost Shock if you want to do a mass pull quickly. (Stormkeeper talent is a must to give you 2 souped up instant Chain Lightnings every minute.) Earth Elemental has a long CD but helps with rares and large pulls.

(4) Shadow Priest
Shadow Priests have a very rough time when undergeared, but things get easier as they gear up due to the fact that not only your damage but your shield and your health drain from Vampiric Touch and Devouring Plague also scale up with gear. Shadow Priests do have a wide range of impactful talents such as Misery to double DoT mobs as you pull them, and Shadowcrash once you get them clumped up, but they seem to have a higher skill cap, and the rights stats and gear will be necessary if you want to be efficient.

(5) Mage
Mages are superior for Legacy content because with Arcane Explosion you can AoE while moving, and there is a talent to increase your speed when you cast Arcane Barrage in Arcane spec, but in current content their lack of survivability can slow you down unless you have great gear or amazing kiting skills. The Triune Ward legendary with the endurance conduit that makes your shield heal you will make you comparable to a Shaman or Priest in survivability in world content.

I’m quite surprised not to see hunter on this list? The pets need a survivability buff, I get not wanting to play healer and spam mend pet on cd.

Druid is very fantastic in outside content. You have more buttons yeah, but you also have access to all role specs like a Paladin, stealth like a rogue, and the flying form feels so nice. Ya feel like you own the world.

Warlock (any spec) is easy mode for soloing world content.

Overall, I’d say Druid is probably your best bet, especially if you prefer casters. You can run along being a critchicken for most of it but you can still swap to bear if needed for a particular situation.

My impression was that the OP was interested in a caster/magical type.

But otherwise, yes, Hunters are arguably one of the best classes for soloing world content.

Vengeance/ Havoc for pure speed/decent self healing in combat.

As Havoc you can melt entire armies of mobs in seconds and keep yourself at full health the entire time via leech.

Need to solo a rare elite? Go vengeance and just eat those souls for days.

For ranged: BM Hunter or Demo Lock, you basically have a full team with you but they’re pets you control. You can solo rare elites with them no problemo. Decent AoE with cooldowns for melting down multiple packs at once.

Also Frost Mage works wonderfully if you play in War Mode, their PvP talents make them untouchable with constant freezes on everything that even so much as looks in your direction.

Beast master hunter. You can solo everything but world bosses. Simple as that, other classes are ok but nothing compares. Beast master hunter with a clefthoof pet owns anything.

My first choice would be Hunter or Warlock. When doing world content you get a pet to tank for you so it makes killing rare’s and elites much easier.

Other than that if you are looking for a caster any of the hybrid classes (Such as Druid, Shaman and Priest) are pretty good due to them having self heals. Personally I think Balance Druid with the Resto Affinity Talent is the best caster for world content.

Druid imo. We are escape artists with an entire kit dedicated to improved world travel & navigation.

Remember the maw when it first came out?

not to mention special signature abilities like stealth, entangle/hibernate and Charm woodland creature for those that get lonely questing solo :100:

Druid.

The Maw during 9.0 and 9.1 was a great example. You can even solo tougher elites as bear. It will take FOREVER but it’s a sure thing.

Druid. No debate. Tank spec to pull 20 mobs, finish quest in 1 go, and never die. Instant flight form to go to the next quest quickly. Stealth past mobs that you don’t need to waste time on (say if you had to go in a cave etc). You have Moonfire which is extremely good, I’ll tell you why, 40 yard range spell, that is spammable it doesn’t cost any resources to cast it, is useable in bear form, can tag mobs far away for them to run to you.

I’m probably missing even more benefits/perks druids have off the top of my mind, but yea druid, especially guardian spec is stupid op.
