Best class for someone who isn't going to raid?

So I’m returning for classic and I’m not much on raiding. What’s some class ideas that might be a solid pick for someone in my shoes? I probably want to heal but might be down to DPS. Mostly going to pvp, world pvp and dungeons.

Hunter if you want to play Ranged.

Rogue if you want to play Melee.

Priest hands down. Don’t let anyone tell you different. You can heal as shadow while leveling and spec into holy for 5mans in higher levels. Alternatively, Spriests are beasts in pvp, and Discipline priest in battleground pvp is off the charts. Literally all 3 priest specs are viable for what you’re looking for.

Probably Hunter. They are very self sufficient and also top tier in world PvP.

Me too. I’m focusing mostly on pvp this time around and not worrying about all the raiding hub-bub. I wanted something good for pvp but also a good leveler/farmer. I narrowed it down to hunter, warlock and mage. I scratched hunter since I main a hunter in BFA but find I have added shadow priest to the list…so currently trying to decide between affliction lock, frost mage or shadow priest. I am leaning very heavily toward warlock.

The world is your oyster dude. But man Rogue ganking and PvP is fun. But if I were going to focus on PvP and not raid, I’d make a hybrid so I could frustrate people, throw heals at myself, and outlast everyone. Paladin probably. Bubble hearth. Or Shaman for WF crits, as few and far between as they may be.

Off the hybrid train, Locks also can majorly melt face.

You’ll have a better chance of getting dungeon runs as a healer, and you’ll be popular in BGs/PvP (not saying by which side :P).

hunter… gold farming gods! Pig for a pet and grind condors in deadwind pass like all the bots used to.

If you are not going to raid, I think a caster has to be best. Warlock even undergeared is still good.

Paladin and shaman are very independent with their melee tree while still being able to heal fine with a caster set.

Hunter or druid. Druids are super fun until you try and raid and they say hey bud you have to heal. Then you start looking at bear and kitty form and crying. But if you don’t raid you can do whatever you like.

Hunter or Druid - you can solo so many things very well with those two.

This is a great idea. Hybrids mostly have to heal in raids. But they shine in pvp.

Ret paladin of course.

Priest is the class you want. for the reason Drungk said.

Spell pushback was a problem. There were no diminishing returns on spell pushback. You could be beaten down without ever finishing a spell cast. Being a PvP healer was not fun. And changing specs was ridiculously expensive, so you’d be leveling as a healer, which was also not fun.

And if you get outnumbered in world PvP you better have a second character to go play on because people will corpse camp you for hours and chase you across the entire zone just to camp you again. It’s not like you could mount up and fly away. And don’t forget, in vanilla, a group of level 15s could take down a level 60. You might be in for a surprise. I expect plenty of world PvPers to run back to retail with their tails between their legs.

Any race/class/spec that seems fun. Shadow priest would be fun, but you can pop out and heal sometimes if you’d like. Shaman are super fun as well. I’d personally go with one of those.

Ty for all the feedback. I was looking at either priest or druid before posting and now pretty I’m sold on priest. Can I expect the class to really fall off if I’m not getting raid loot?

Human Paladin, Prot with a dash of ret and holy, unkillable face smasher for the win!

If you don’t care about raiding. Hell even if you do. The best class for you is what you would enjoy most.
