What do you guys think is the best class for just mowing down large packs of enemies, fast.

Leveled mine to 120. But the AoEs have down time. So not sure if demon hunter is the best.
Demo Lock has amazing AoE capabilities, with the drawback being that the spec is about as durable as wet tissue paper, with your primary tanking demons being as durable as slightly less wet tissue paper.

DH for sure, the more mobs you can gather the more you heal off of shards. Regularly solo current instances on mine, can pull every mob in freehold up to the bridge in one pass and kill them there in one shot.
It’s kind of stupid how good they are at it.

What do you think about the cds though? I usually have to wait for my eye beam to come off CD before I pull stuff. Makes things slow.
With proper traits the cool down goes by a lot faster.
With enough haste and the right spec, it’s pretty non-stop. You will wait for eyebeam a bit no matter what, but there is always something meaningful to push. Its one of the very few classes that doesnt feel gutted right now and I am quite certain that is because they were designed in the last expac and designed to function with a very limited set of abilities from the start.
Frost Mage is pretty good at it. Beyond that, any tank class works as well.
Beast mastery easily.
Arms has a strong aoe burst

Fire- Burn everything and watch them run away burning in flames! Muhahahaha
Frost- Freeze everything and watch them die a slow… very slow… death.
Arcane- EXPLOSION!.. and a barrage at 4 charges… but more importantly EXPLOSION!

going to add that if you get stunned or CC’ed for any amount of time mass farming on a DH, you are most likely insta-gibbed.
They have to be able to keep moving to keep healing and without that, they die really easily.
Keep moving to keep healing? Why? Because of the ancient bulwark azerite trait?
You have to keep picking up your heal shards. Each one heals for a pretty absurd amount of health and if you can stack the mobs up you generate a lot of them if talented for it.
But the minute you get stunned, it’s over. You go down quickly.

Fan of the druid for aoe tasks. Moonfire has good range to tag mobs far away, taunt can be used to add more, etc…
When tired of the Druid, my next choices are all tank classes. Paladin, DK, Warrior.
Over the years I’ve seen many a skilled solo caster own AoE mobs, if you see one doing it, it ain’t me. lol
Unholy DK: Unholy builds can pull a lot of mobs and burn them all down really quickly while healing while killing.
Demon Hunters: They are pretty good, but can’t take the hits as well as an Unholy DK.
Demonology Lock: Not sure about the tissue paper comment. I’ve found you can chew down lots of mobs and if you need additional tanking and damage launch your second Fel guard and Demonic Tyrant. Then continue to chain off imp explosions.
Fury Warrior: You can destroy packs as a fury warrior.
Prot Paladin: Prot paladin AoE farming isn’t fast, but you can pull a ton of crap and live.
Those are the classes I can pull the most enemies with consistently with any kind of speed and survive well enough. I would be surprised if n Affliction warlock couldn’t do as well as Demonology, though I haven’t played Affliction since probably The Burning Crusade. Frost mages can be good too, but your AoE destruction relies on slowing and might not be done as well in tight quarters.
