I’m sure you believe that’s true based on the trivial content you do but when it matters on hard content, such as mythic sun kings vanquisher add for example, it’s more complex to not die.
So you use four abilities then?
paladin is quite easy to pickup.
Let me know what you’re having trouble understanding. I know your m+9 and 0/10m experience doesn’t require you to do literally anything but press thrash so I don’t blame you for not knowing the spec
unfortunately, nothing in this game challenges you in the least until you get to heroic dungeons, and even that isn’t very challenging.
my point is just that it’s really hard to tell what you can/cannot do with your tank while leveling because gear is meaningless, and the mechanics don’t punish you when you make mistakes, so when you get into the “real” version of a run or reach max level, you only just start to get a feel for what tanking is actually like with your class.
My apologies, I didn’t realize I was talking with Mr. World First. Please tell us how tank Mythic 9000 with a druid tank?
Oh I don’t tank with this character at all. But what you are saying applies to all the tank specs equally. If the OP is just trying to learn tanking, bear tank has probably the easiest rotation.
That’s what I like to do also. I will even turn xp off for a bit when I get behind in gear, or get a few new abilities that I struggle to use effectively.
one more quick note: if you go pally, you’re kind of screwed for duel spec b/c you can’t use the same weapon sets (usually).
if you go druid, you can use the same weapons for tank and melee dps.
it’s the same reason I run ele/resto sham. they aren’t always the ideal specs (kitty can’t touch boomy atm), but the ability to swap specs at all w/o rolling 2 sets of gear is helpful, imo.
DH also uses the same weapons in both specs.
DK only one of the two dps specs uses the same weapon.
not a huge deal, but something worth considering for quality of life issues.
Doesn’t legendaries kind of screw you out of that for the most part?
Pretty much the opposite of this. Druid, DK, and pally are easy and relatively forgiving. Druid and Pally get +'s as they can reroll heals or dps if you decide tanking isn’t for you. Brewmaster has less buttons then druid and their primary mitigation is automatic, they are easy to learn, bit more difficult to master but same with warrior. DH is the hyper kid on the playground running around with their hair on fire annoying everyone. The reason the are excelling in M+ is their toolkit is mobility and this expac has made tanking = kiting. Lots of us old tanks hate the current style and I for one would recommend against picking it up right now. IMHO and YMMV
I realize that. All I’m saying is that IMO a bear is a good choice for someone who wants to learn the basics of tanking which I believe is what the thread is about. But certainly I don’t expect to go into instances and expect it to be easy.
Post on your tank let’s see the progress
I have trouble keeping threat as any tank other than Blood. That’s really my main problem
Shall we flex or unzip sport? Good grief dude, IMHO means In My Humble Opinion and YMMV means Your Mileage May Vary. relax. And for the record this is one of my tank of every class, I’m not going to log into all of them and post to satisfy your apparently weak ego.
Your problem might be your group then. I only have trouble keeping threat if the DPS is pulling before me or if one of them is doing just absolute crazy DPS.
If that’s happening, then there isn’t much you can do. It’s one of the reason a lot of people don’t like to tank, is people will think you’re a bad tank because they pull everything and die before you can pull threat back.
Pugging you just gotta roll with it. It’s a lot better with a group of friends/guild mates. One of my friends can do insane DPS with his wizard and will 99% of the time pull threat, so he just lets me know in voice before he’s about to go all out so I can expect it and react quickly.
Hunter

A bunch of different DPS pull threat off me, even when I pull first. Some of them do dumpster DPS, but others are insane. Any really big threat generation abilities for Guardian/Pally?
If you think like 4 buttons is a lot… Probably the least amount of buttons than any other tank.
Easy, but needs good skill… which is it?
if you reaaaaly want to learn how to tank I would say warrior but is sh*t right now
