Best bang for buck intel cpu?

Hello all. I am thinking about splurging on a new build, or parts rather to replace my current parts.

I am looking for the best price/performance intel chip. No overclocking needed. No special coolers needed.

I have been away from pc gaming for a few years, and plan to do more research as soon as I post this.

The cpu I run now is the i5 6500.

If you don’t mind waiting a bit longer, Intel’s 10-series for desktops is just around the corner which would be a big jump for you. If you want something now, I’d go for either a i5 9600K or i7 9700K as far as best price/performance goes.

i just got an i5 9400f and have been really impressed with it been good price and very powerful only downside is no integrated graphics but not really even in issue with gamers right allso it doesn’t overclock but it turbo boost its grate for games becous you can get a boost single core

AMD Ryzen 3600 + B450 motherboard…forget about intel for value. You can probably save the RAM from your last build, but its recommended to have 3200 or 3600 MHz kit for Ryzen

Thanks guys. I like intel because they have worked well for me. The AMD I had did not. Not a brand loyalist, I just want to buy once.

Check out this guys video on WoW cpu comparisons.

Ryzen cpu is a valid option especially for price/performance.

You really need to look at Jayztwocents video he released this morning regarding the Ryzen 3100 and 3300X. I understand your reasoning as to why you may not want an AMD as they did really sketchy things years ago, but they are a different company now putting out some great products.

Mordrid, you think the “moar corez” people are going to show up now that it’s an AMD 4/8 being recommended?

For the record, 4/8 is absolutely fine for a WoW build (and for most use cases) and the 3300x in particular looks great for those on a tight budget.

He tends to stay quiet when he contradicts himself. Also going to add that the 3300x is probably the best performance/budget CPU out there.

If OP absolutely must have Intel then the i5-9600k can be found for $190 or the i7-9700k for $360.

If I was you I would grab an X570 MB and an AMD CPU. The X570 gives you the ability to add the new Zen 3 CPU down the line using the same MB and save a ton of money in upgrading your computer.

I have run intel for years, but AMD is simply a better value right now.

Hopefully AMD might have finally fixed its bios issues by now, but wait and see.

This is a consideration. I bought an Asus Tuf X570 motherboard and was getting constant micro stuttering in WoW. Flashed motherboard to latest bios and seems to have gone away. Also seems like these boards have zero room for tweaking. Have to run stock settings.

Just my observation.

Anyone else remember the AMD Athlon x2’s and the Competing Pentium D’s?
Seems similar. Right now, AMD seems to have the better product… maybe.
They both make good stuff. Any cpu in the top 100 should do. Is not the Graphics Card more critical?

This is pretty interesting. I wonder why the 9900k has such bad 0.1% lows. I didn’t listen to the video, just browsed the graphs.

Pretty satisfied with my 3 year old 8700k though.

Need both - but generally its your CPU that’s getting hit when you start having lower FPS in important events such as when you are raiding or pvp.

k, ty… Ok, thank you.

I plan on upgrading my i7 4790 to an i5 9600k.

Skip 9th gen.

Get a 10600k at least.
