Best and Worst Leveling Zones in the 1-60 Range

Worst

Alliance: Ferales - reminds me of Spires of Arak with the cliffs and labrynth-like ways to get to quest objectives.
Horde: Northern Barrens - Just outright boring. Maybe it’s the landscape.

Best

Alliance: Western Plaguelands - I like what they did with it since Vanilla. It’s a good mixture of quests with a lot of fun NPCs.
Horde: Silverpine Forest - I love that entire quest line from beginning to end where you become a quest giver after you witness Sylvanas get killed then resurrected.

What are your favorite 60-and-below leveling zones in today’s game?

Best: Badlands for punching Deathwing in the face and getting Rhea’s last egg.
Worst: Thousand Needles for being full of water.

eleven years ago i didn’t like farming hyenas in blasted lands for snickerfang jowls

barrens still had its funny chat, even on Alliance side

Agree with Siverpine…Johnny Awesome. Thats the route I go with all my alts.

At this point I’m not sure if there is any zone I would like for starting due to burnout but I know I will always hate Ashenvale as the worst. Screw that place with all its hills and valleys. It’s like the blueprint for Argus years later.

I too disliked Ashenvale. I have no rationale for it though. The scenery is beautiful, the story is decent and the music is relaxing.

Only possibility I could pin it on is I went through there back when I had no idea what I was doing and it reminds me of those times.

Oddly enough Duskwood was another zone I did at the same time and I still love that place.

Horde favorite: Stonetalon mountains leveling your rank up and dropping the bomb.
Horde worst: I don’t enjoy Silithus. I don’t like the bugs and caves of bugs.

i can’t stand leveling in any classic area.

I like to mix it up.
I just leveled 4 new hunters to 60 in the last two weeks. There are some zones that I hit every time…both barrens, Felwood and Winterspring for the Horde side.
Others like Desolace and Silithus I just cant stand at all.

Alliance:
Loch Modan- I love the story and scenery. The area is great for skinning, mining, and herbalism too. Also okay for fishing.
Duskwood- Decent story and I like the semi- Gothic atmosphere of the town and general area.

Horde:
Tirisfal Glades/Silverpine Forest- The creepy, dark atmosphere of the zones fit the Forsaken perfectly in my opinion. I’ve leveled a few UD characters and even bring my BE hunters to this zone. Skinning, herbalism, and mining is decent, too.
Hillsbrad Foothills- Johnny Awesome. I love helping him avenge Twinkles. My other favorite questine is helping Kingslayer Orkus to become a hero of the Horde.

Both Factions:
Arathi Highlands- I love this zone for skinning and herbalism and generally messing around in.
The Hinterlands- Same reasons as above and the Horde/Alliance storylines are good.
Winterspring- The Winterspring Saber mount and the Pride Watcher saber cats/Shy-Rotam for my hunters.
