Best (and possibly worst) leveling zones

I was thinking of trying to level up a few low level alts to get away from S’lands for a while. Its been a bit of time since I last did that and I was looking for some tips.

N O T E: I do know about WoD and how efficient it is but I’ve done that before and Im more interested in zones that have a lot of quests, areas I may have overlooked and that have at least of a bit of interesting story to refresh my memory.

I leveled a Vulpera back when they were introduced and took her through Silverpine Forest starting up at the Forsaken High Command going down from there and that was pretty decent questing. What other zones would have equal or better questing?

Zones like some of the TBC ones or Vash’jir I probably want to avoid but I know some zones have very little questing available. Not sure what faction Im doing it on, possibly Horde.

wod is normally thought of as the fastest zone to lev in. just remember to skip the start for even faster xp. (start chromie time, use the free port to the dark portal, delete the starter quest, enter the portal)

Silverpine is top tier and should be done no matter what. Extremely efficient zone.

After that it’s either Bfa (nazmir and voldun) or WoD (mix of zones based on current level) to 50

Im trying to avoid later expacs and as I said I really dont want to do WoD. I know its efficient but Ive done it almost as often as BfA.

I might just test run a few zones and see whats available.

I am a leveling expert.

For Horde I recommend: New start zone, Stonetalon Mountains, Feralas, 1000 Needles, Tanaris, then all the way to Winterspring. Usually by then you’re pretty up there.

These zones are very fun, not too overlong, scenic, have good stories and are fairly efficient.

If avoiding WoD is an intent then classic maps into MoP at 40 would be your best bet.

There was a time you could very efficiently party sync and get a boatload of experience for basically repeating a set of maps but sadly that doesn’t work anymore.

Alliance route: Elwynn forest → Westfall → Redridge Mountain (should hit flying by the end iirc) → Duskwood → Jade Forest → Valley of the Four Winds. Can vary by if you have WM or not.

Horde: Sadly I do not play horde. I think I levelled my one Horde DH the following way; Intro → Ghostlands → Jade Forest → Valley of the Four Winds → Krasarang Wilds.

Doing the undead progression path is likely better (places like West Plaguelands have a high quest density). I avoid it because of what it means to me.

Edit: I agree with above Stonetalon and Ashenvale are two decent Horde maps.

I just pick whichever zones have mogs/unique quests I don’t have done. Game feels better to combo things for fun rather than play for speed.
