Best Alternative to WoW

I would say GW2, but it’s gone down the crapper lately. What do you think is the best alternative to WoW for PvE and/or PvP?

Minecraft. You get to punch trees. If you don’t want to pay for Minecraft then Minetest the open source version which has lots of plug-ins.

I’d say OSRS but they really butchered pvp. Devs kinda listen to the players - except on BH2 - so that’s a plus.

surfing, soccer, calisthenics, jogging, skying, cycling, reading a good article on your profession, reading a book, enjoy time with your family, go take a walk with your dog, go walk alone one the park, go to the beach, enjoy time with your partner… tons of things.

Witcher 3 if you haven’t tried it yet. Dark Souls 3 is also sitting on my PC waiting to be played, apparently it’s awesome.

If you really want to try something different the One Finger Death Punch is pretty fun!

GW2 has better PvP, but that game is basically in maintenance mode now. I just play Overwatch when I can’t stand WoW anymore.

Swtor leagues better for pvp and solo pve, raids not so much but they have pretty much everything wow has just better overall atleast largely more meaningful you arent punished for not grinding something til your eyes bleed.

No alternative.

Better to enjoy real life.

Honestly… SWToR. Its a SW copy of this game. Its what im gonna sub back to when im done gearing and waiting for Shadowlands… so in a couple months. People may scoff at ToR but i find it to be very familiar. It has good story driven content and a surprisingly active community. For classes basically its what WoW used to be before all the pruning, you know 5 different abilties that can essentially do the same thing but you need them all on your bar still. So if thats your thing. The leveling in ToR is faster paced now too due to the few xpacks that have released. Basically you can do the storyline, heroic missions and flashpoints(dungeons) and level through the original content to 50 before hitting xpack content.

Other game was Rift… but i think that too has taken a big dump. That was WoW clone crazy.

Backup your data from your computer, wipe it, and install Linux Mint or Ubuntu then set it up as a gaming system. Keep in mind this won’t be easy but its challenging and rewarding when you are done. My other i7 is a near match to my Windows box and it’s a nice change really.

Remember not everything that runs on Windows will run on Linux. Steam however solves that problem mostly with it’s Steam Play component so more Windows games run fine under Linux. DO YOUR RESEARCH first before trying this but it is rewarding.

Another thing you can try is dig up what old games from Windows 9x days you have on CD and DVD and build a retro gaming system from old parts or eBay. Or go back even further with one of the old 1980’s computer game systems like a Commodore or Color Computer system.

Skyrim with Warcraft mods.

Dragonage:Origins if you like the WoW style of gameplay with a bit more tactical edge.

Guild wa-- oh.

If you want my suggestion for MMOs, i would check out DC universe, Tera and SWTOR. I don’t play any of them as a replacement but as an addition to WoW.

If you want my suggestion for games to play with your friends… well… :smirk:

How much do you like surviving, guns, building and dinosaurs? :t_rex:

Ive played FFXIV and SWTOR. Both are good games in their own way. I don’t know about being a replacement for wow though. They are just different.
