I was wondering what the best spec would be for all aspects of the game? I kind of want to just play one spec for everything and not have to gear swap to to much outside of pvp/pve sets. and please don’t say play what you want, I wouldn’t be asking if I wanted to just play what I want.
Fact is, they are all good. It’s going to come down to your preferred playstyle.
I personally hate modern Aff and Demo, so I play Destro. Others hate Destro because it’s a static turret spec.
Locks are generally good in most aspects of the game, even their biggest weakness has been mitigated in the fact they can now sprint better than most other classes… So great even for old content.
Unfortunately, I’m going to have to say what you didn’t want to hear…

Demo needs Nether Portal to be competitive.
Nether Portal sucks.

Nether Portal is miles ahead of any build without it in a raid environment. Not so much in m+ or pvp.
That being said, i rather enjoy it in raid despite what others perceive as issues with the ability.

Playing a version of all three now, and I’m having the most fun with Demo. Destro is a bit chunky and affliction seems to be at a loss for which way to go, but it used to be so sweet back in vanilla. It’s my take, but Demo has a nice mix of utility, survivability, and punch in the current structure… however play what you like

I really like demonology, but just today i leveled my survival hunter to 395 ilevel which is the same ilevel as my demonology lock and to my surprise the damage of survival hunter to down an elite mob solo is twice the speed that of demonology despite i have followed rotation guide for demonology from icy vein.
So maybe you wont want to pick demonology based on my experience
but im sticking to learning to play demonology better cos i really like the spec
You really need to play them all to see what you like. Personally, I prefer affliction then destro then demonology last.

Tbh i found the most satisfying aoe rotation to be aff lock. The explosions and domino efdect are very neat to watch go of…how competitive viable or good it actualy is…i habe no clue
Very average compared to a ret paly burst or shadow priest aoe burst potentials…
Only shines with an aug and PI.
So is a bad time to play a lock? Was thinking of playing one next season

Eh, I play destruction mostly and I don’t think it will be too bad next season. I do think the proposed set bonuses are bad, but the spec other than that should be fine.
I know a lot of warlocks are all doom and gloom and say the class will be absolutely useless, but a lot of people tend to overreact. If things are as bad as people say they will be, then there will be rebalancing and changes.
Play what you think is fun.
I mainly want to play a lock coz of the mogs they have (espeically before BFA) All their mogs looks really good and really fit the warlock theme well.
