Best Addons?

What Addons will be a must?

Your brain. Else, no addons will be the “must”, they are supposed to be optionnal and they depend of your gameplay.

CTMod (or another bar customization/replacement addon) - if bliz made customizable bars this wouldn’t be needed.

Weak Auras 2 Classic - for all sorts of timers, CD watchers, point generaters, etc.

Bagnon - or similar bag addon, bliz’s individual bags are just bad.

Auctionator - or similar AH addon, makes AHing so much easier and efficient.

Some will say threat meters, dmg meters, etc., but those are not really necessary. Maybe threat if you’re raiding.

All you need is to go into Settings and click the Auto Loot checkbox. You are now good to go.

Decursive and DBM are must for raiding.

I also use Clique for healing, but that is optional.

If I’m not raiding, I don’t use any addons. I think UI addons particularly make my interface glitchy and unnecessarily complicated, so I don’t see any reason to use it.

Some sort of mailbox addon will be needed. The default is terrible.

Wonder if Grid will be available. I need Grid or Vuhdu to heal.

I have not been able to find Grid for Classic. There is a similar addon called ZPerl that seems to work fine. I agree that a mail mod is essential.

OP, unless you really want to spend a lot of time looking for quest objectives, Questie is an addon you should consider.

I recommend BetterVendorPrice, especially for early game when you have too little bag space. If you are faced with having to throw something away in order to loot something better, it will allow you to throw away the least valuable thing in your bags.

For levelling I use Questie, sorry to the no-addons group (well, not really sorry). Very useful but not absolutely necessary. Apart from that for me it’s just fluff addons like Leatrix that makes the bits of minutia easier to swallow.

Do you find Grid a must for your gameplay? I typically prefer the default raid frames and Clique in lieu of mouseover macros.

The threat meters really don’t work right now because the API for threat has been removed in Classic. I’m sure there will be attempts to make addons that estimate threat but as far as I know there are no working threat meters.

My main became a druid in TBC and I used Grid and Clique for many expansions for 5-man and raid healing. Being able to customize and see all my hots, buffs, and debuffs in an efficient manner allowed me to be a pretty good healer. But it’s not essential, just really helpful.

You might need to turn it off when your backpack gets full if you had no luck getting 6-slot bags and still scraping together silver. So you only need to delete that red apple in order to loot that new flimsy chainmail belt, wear the belt, then loot the broken tooth into the vacated red apple space in your backpack.

FasterLooting or any addon that comes with this function.
There’s a horrible delay when looting items from a dead mob
well idk if you guys from NA got this delay but I’ve got it and this addon fixes it

It is present on NA as well.

I have used FasterLooting and the option for it in Leatrix and I still find the autolooting to be hellishly slow compared to what it used to be in WoW.

Default raid frames have come a long way since TBC through Cata, however I do believe they still do not show all the buffs/debuffs you want displayed by default. There are addons that can compensate (at least there are for retail) but why add another addon when Grid does what you need?

Necrosis.
Domino’s or similar Action bar replacement
Titan Panel
I hope

Sounds like a mailbox addon might be in order

That sounds similar to the x-perl addon I used to use. I hope it is as I liked x-perl at the time.

I will be playing a lock. What’s a good addon that will show me maybe a different threat plate, and or my dot timers?

Necrosis, among others, for dots. As far as threat goes it appears to not be working due to API changes.

Technically, no addons will be a must. However, I have a vision impairment and was unable to read the black on orange quest text in either warcraft and was often in wowhead for info on where things are. Then someone in the addon/UI forum told me about the Immersion addon that makes those talky head boxes and puts the quest texts big and white on black backgrounds in our screens. It’s VERY un-classic (unless maybe you look back to WC3?), but freaking awesome to be reading what all the NPCs are saying to me in either regular or classic wow. Guildie confirmed Immersion working in beta. So if you’re old or half-blind and want to know wtf is going on, Immersion is very cool in either regular or classic wow. Looks like it just came out in 2017, inspired by the Legion talky head dialogues which I think were inspired by the WC3 talky head dialogues.

Beyond that, I might use X and Y classic if Tomtom isn’t ready for classic yet. Before I learned about Immersion for quest text, and in the absence of yellow arrows pointing the way, I was often in wowhead to read quest text and succumbed to temptation to scroll for coordinates. People in comments as old as 2006 were throwing coordinates around, so XY/Tomtom probably not too un-classic as far as addons go.

Classic Codex is probably just an indulgence, but puts questgivers on your maps and could help prevent missing quest givers. I’m sure it will have conflicts with Immersion because it auto-accepts/completes. It probably spoils the fun/point of questing unless you toggle it off before talking to anything which would be annoying. Example of why I think it’s probably unnecessary is tha in night elf starting zone, I simply bungled into new non-mandatory questgivers just in the process of roaming around doing other quests or zig-zagging to kill everything on my way to/from places.

Auctionator probably won’t be all that necessary until you start having bagloads of crap to unload. Except maybe if it tells you the vendor value of each item in your bag and helps you prioritize what to delete when looting and out of bag space. I didn’t start looking for an addon like that until I decided to roll up my sleeves and cleanout one or two of my banks during BFA. I don’t imagine Auctionator would spoil the classic experience, since it’s just helping minimize time in the AH and maximize time you spend out in the world. Also noticed we have the ‘open all’ button in our classic stress test, and pretty sure that was only introduced in Legion. Auctionator and Open all button combined to allow people to grab whatever mats are cheapest, even if you’re getting numerous 1-piece stacks.

As for the others, I don’t know. I played with 0 addons from when I started in 2015 through 2017. I think Suramar’s leyline bling achievement near the end of my Pathfinder 2 achieve made me cave and download Tomtom to get to the last leylines and just ‘giterdun’. Then auctionator to help me cleanout some banks in an hour instead of a day during BFA. Immersion is far and away the best thing ever for me and I donated $20 to that guy. (I’ll circle back and donate something to tomtom and auctionator though too now.) Just browsing, I saw one to help warlocks organize their soul shards which just made me hesitant to try warlock. Also not ocd enough to be hyperorganizing my bags - just sort and got used to where things landed, though classic has no sort button so will see how I am once I have many big bags later.
