For 2s, the answer is almost always rdruid. You can mess around with double dps, especially if you don’t care about getting super high rating. If you’re both good, double dps is fun, but if you’re both good… rdruid will be better.
To find out what the meta is, check drustvar and checkpvp and look at the highest rated players for their spec. Then, look around them to infer who they could be playing with.
To be clear, you can also play with holy priest, and generally speaking higher skill healers are going to be better than average rdruids.
For 2s rogue goes well with Destro almost the same way they go with mage. For 3s if you run with a rogue, your healer shouldnt be a disc priest because of overlapping CC. Maybe shaman/rdruid, rogue, lock?

sub and sp are the most consistently good double dps partners for lock. I have seen an ele/demo at 2.1 recently, so there’s that too.
I play sp/lock all the time in 2s, and end of season you can get up to around 2.1-2.4 as one duelist and one mglad/r1 player. In seasons like shadowlands you can get 2500+.

Yes. Demo is easier, but destro technically has a higher skill cap. It becomes more about finding windows for big bolts, so it feels different, but it’s still good. You can play lock/sp with all specs of lock if you want. But good teams will generally outpace sp/affy.

Does the rogue have to be sub, or would sin work as well?
Playing with assa relies on cheese when assa has a good oneshot. Generally speaking, you always want sub if you are playing double dps. You really need the extra resets and survivability.

Your best bets are:
- Rdruid / Destro / Shadow priest
- Rdruid / Destro / Windwalker
- Rdruid / Destro / Frost mage
- Holy pala / Destro / Shadow priest
- Holy pala / Destro / Windwalker
- Holy pala / Destro / Frost mage
- Rshaman / Destro / DH
- Rshaman / Moonkin / Destro
Other viable but slightly less-good comps include
- Rdruid / Destro / Assa rogue
- Rdruid / Destro / Arms warrior
In short, you want a Mage or Shadow priest partner as caster, or a melee who can give you stuns and create a lot of pressure by himself such as WW or DH or the other 2 mentioned
And you want a Resto druid as your most preferred healer, with Holy paladins and Resto Shamans being good secondary choices in case you are going for a more aggresive comp
For 2v2, it’s always Resto Druid Destro, because Druids can keep u alive the best and have 3 different stuns to give you so you can cast your dmg. Secondary choice is Resto Shaman or Holy priest to give you stuns to get chaos bolts off and things like Power infusion / Skyfury totem to buff your dmg.

I’m way less stressed as destro in this melee mongo meta rn tbh. Double coil, infernal and all the instant damage is great into the cleaves. Not to mention all the different spell schools. Against wizards/rogues demo is definitely meaty though. A lot of RMP higher in the ladder.
when it comes to ladder ww destro rdruid(or hpal) is by far the best destro lock comp
