Best 1v1 world PvP classes - no dampening, white room scenario

  1. I don’t care if “it doesn’t matter” – I like it
  2. I’d really appreciate if you told me when you genuinely think is best, not tell me what your favorite class happens to be (unless they are actually the best 1v1 class)
  3. Potions are allowed, but don’t get too crazy into items
  4. I don’t give a damn if the spec is “weird” or doesn’t work in PvE / arenas. I like strange builds that work.

So I’m guessing something like Rogue, WW Monk, Feral Druid, Hunter…

I’m wondering if Fire Mage, Warlock (of any spec), DK, Priest stand any kind of chance.

Just give it to me straight, guys. 1v1, no interference, racials can be anything (i.e. dwarf to stop bleeding)…

What are the top 2-3 best 1v1 WPvP classes?

Demo lock, sub rogue, balance druid, shadow priest, fury war, havoc demon hunter, and ret paladin are what stand out to me initially. I didn’t include tanks because they’re all dumb in PvP and I know very little about them besides the horrible shuffle lobbies on my alt at lower MMR.

You kinda have to pick between fun tools vs raw power.
Like a ret paladin is probably most capable of walking into the middle of a big royal rumble and being the last man standing. Ret especially is like a 3 phase boss fight with tons of safety nets that make it really hard to try and 1v1 for most classes. But IMO it’s not a very interesting class to play.
But a marks hunter has a massive amount of cheeky tools to play with and pick off people and vanish into the night before anyone knows what happened. You’re just gonna have a really hard time if multiple people focus you, but you have the tools to run and reset fights.

Tanks can be pretty nasty in world pvp. The only real issue is that a lot of classes have so much sustain these days, you usually just run into stale mates against anything that isn’t a hunter, mage or rogue. And those classes will just leave before you can kill them.

Open world pvp is a bit tricky because it often comes down to experience as opposed to what class you’re playing.

A lot of people have some clever tricks up their sleeves.

I cant say what would be thee best but i could guess a top 3 would be:

Fury warrior, Sub rogue, boomy
Honorable mentions: WW monk, ret pally, arms warrior, and of course DH

#1 would definitely have to go to Sub Rogue. Top knotch control and utility, plus insane burst that if played correctly will never lose. Also being a stealth class, they can pick or chose whether or not to engage in PVP in the first place (which I think is actually the biggest determining factor).

Second and third might be Warrior and Boomkin.

Really any class can be successful at WPvP if you put the work into it and come prepared with Gliders, Pots, Buffs (not 100% required).

Stealth Classes have the advantage of dictating the opener but as long as you understand the limitations of your opponent and how to use the environment to your advantage it is game on.

Solo Healing Classes might be live lords and might get a kill but will take forever unless they can get an environmental kill (i.e. cliff knocks) and Tanks are tough to kill and usually wear you down if you understand the spec toolkit.

Put if you want it straight your odds of finding 1 v 1 in open world are limited to dead servers and shards or you are fighting toons that are leveling with WM on. You might score a kill 1 v 1 but if you stick around a group will drop on your head. Hit and Move.

I’d say sub rogue. Then ret pally.

Rogues get the jump and can be the opportunist ganker. And they can literally reset any unfavorable match up.

Ret have crazy sustain, great utility and great damage.

Warriors are also great but feel like some classes can shut them down more and it’s a little more rock, paper, scissors for them…

This, hard to beat those to atm being alone. Many classes will struggle to stop them, however, the rogue being able to reset any fight… wins.

Hunter

Open world, no caster or non-stealth melee can actually hit you because of 51 yard MM range and 70 yard sniper shot.

You can use sp-eyeglass + camo trick to kill or force major CDs from rogues before even leaving camo. They also can’t restealth and stall because of sp-eyeglass + hunter’s mark.

This will work versus feral as well but the advantage with that is moreso denying their melee range opener, if you trade cheetah with dash they can’t close the 40 yard gap ever since it’s open world and you can just kite forever.

1v1 is fair in arena. but not pvp server world. that bother too much. i rather avoid that. that breaks the TOS rules. blizz failed. so many tears.

see people hating. we do not want violence. other has important thing to do. i best keep it off. now people give up. they want a fair advantage.

you can challenge someone in arena. that is ok. when people understand, they can come back. they hate my past cause i was right.

this dude speaks how I basically imagine all paladin players speak.

Tanks are monsters in wpvp

Would have to agree with the above about sub rogue. A good sub rogue will be undefeated in 1v1 WPvP. Even a bad sub player will most likely win most fights.

Feral druid. You have stealth, tracking, self healing, instant flight form in combat (if Night Elf and not in dragon isles).

You can break any root or slow. You move faster than any other spec (200% baseline run speed) and can hit yourself with an insane burst of speed with dash or stampeding roar.

No one can get away from you, and even the most mobile specs will have trouble keeping up with you.
You have a 2 second teleport spell usable in combat you can use to escape if you can put a stun or cyclone on the enemy.
Multiple stuns. Instant roots. Built in slow. And if you can find a deep lake no one will come close to catching you.
Bleeds mean other classes can’t restealth.

It will be hard for any dps spec to survive your 30 second incarnation burst, and anyone you can’t kill you can escape from.
Plus you have a portal network allowing you to get around Azeroth.

I think feral druids are the best world pvp spec, and have been for most of the time since Burning Crusade. Anything you can’t kill, you can escape from or avoid. And unlike rogues, druids have a lot more utility that can help in world pvp such as tracking and instant mount/flight form (depending on area). Rogues might have vanish and cloak of shadows but those aren’t perfect.
