This is a venting post, 100%.
What in the world was Blizzard thinking when they made benthic gear OP.
I am a mythic raider endlessly farming to get the right boots, belts, and gloves, all with a socket! And not one damn benthic item has proc a socket b/c of RNG.
Raiders are going to want to get the best gear, ain’t nothing wrong with that. But this benthic RNG lotto is ridiculous. I hope they nerf the hell out of these items.
So let me get this straight. You’ve had crap luck farming and because you haven’t yet got what you’re after then blizzard should nerf the gear? I BET you wouldn’t have posted if you got those socketed pantolons.
All the same it is kinda feels bad to have a 425 with a socket be the BiS for raiding. You’ll want different boots for m+, but only if they’re 435 or above with ideal stats. far from a promise any time soon.
No. I still think the benthic gear should be nerf. It sucks knowing that mythic 445 will not be better than 425 benthic.
That’s hardly the point though, is it? The game is predicated on multiplicative RNG so that you play more, and stay subscribed for maybe a month longer. It’s a completely absurd practice.
I’m just wondering how anyone thinks this gearing system is fine. Does Blizzard not simulate their own game’s DPS mechanics? They should have known, well ahead of time, that certain Benthic pieces were too strong. No one is saying nerf them to the ground.
Here’s my question; why even add 455 boots to the loot table, knowing that they are not gonna be an upgrade for anyone who bothered to roll the crit bonus boots? Here’s the answer; Blizzard didn’t even bother to test it. Also, the game is so unpopular, that no one played the PTR (I’m not making stuff up).
No one asked for these boring affixes on gear. +Crit damage, random damage proc on bracers, random damage proc on gloves. It doesn’t add anything to your gameplay, and further complicates the balance of gearing.
You said it better than me. I don’t mind grind some obtainable like the badge system in Wrath. But this RNG sh*t is crazy.
LOL I don’t raid anymore because of time issues, and i’m a former cutting edge raider and let me tell you, what you’re suggesting is dumb. Why? Because at least farming for benthic gear you have a better chance then you would farming a raid, i remember their was a stupid trinket that never even dropped for me in 1 of the raids, and that was the only way to farm it, so think about what you’re saying for a moment? You have a way better chance farming benthic then farming the raid.
Wait until you get one with a socket! And then look at the stats to see that it’s all versatility and crit or something. And the special proc ability is that your mount will occasionally turn into a mermaid or something.
I finally got the boots with socket on Monday, then Tuesdays chest i got Titanforged 455 boots.
a simple solution would be make the added effects work only in open world, not the raid.
Benthic gear is too strong and is stupid.
Just spam alts to farm the gear (if u have max level ones). You can get like 50 mana pearls per alt prity easy from doing 1st time quests and then buy benthic pieces to mail over to main to roll for sockets.
that would make some of the pieces BIS outside of the raid instead of just inside the raid… personally I dont think its a problem at all. People just love to look for problems instead of just enjoying the game… The argument I’m hearing is “This piece is too OP and easy to get for everyone…”
For most caster DPS specs (and probably melee too), base ilevel 385 + Socketed Crit damage Benthic boots are superior to 455 boots. (again, that’s just 385, without upgrading the ilevel at all).
I have 455 boots AND the 385 Benthic crit boots with socket. The 455 sims higher. If I boost the boots to higher ilvl that may change but No the 385 boots are NOT better than 455.
It depends on your spec. See that part where I mentioned most “caster” specs? Lets read next time.
You said “and probably mele too”. I’m mele and that is not the case for me.
FYI, those crit boots ARE BIS for me. just not at 385. Thats just plain wrong.
Do you even have the crit boots? I mean your rocking some other 430 boots, so are you just saying things you have “heard” from other people?
I’m having the same problem… I’m approaching my 200th attempt at bracers/boots/gloves with socket, and not a single one… I check logs of the high parsing fury warrs, all of them have at least 3 usually 4 benthic with sockets in the right gear…how are they getting them??? srsly, I’m funneling from my alt, but … is it just insanely lame RNG…or is there some trick they are doing to all get all of them.
Lots of alts and lots of luck.
I dragged all 10 of my alts through the opening part of Nazjatar. All relevant Benthic rewards were funneled to my Paladin and I bought tokens with the free pearls you’re given for the Benthic armour upgrade quest. I then ran my alts through the Nazjatar quests until they stopped rewarding pearls and did pearl WQs and follower ones from there.
Benthic gear wouldn’t be a problem if not for the RNG sockets. If Benthic couldn’t roll a socket, bam, problem solved. They become an intermediary between Heroic and Mythic + Socket gear. No issue.
I must have put in about 400 pearls on rolls so far, still no socket bracers. Haven’t even tried for the boots yet. That is anti-fun right there.
Good news everyone…my beloved warrior got all 3 pieces with sockets in the end by funneling gear from alts. It took a chunk of time, and probably about 2,000 manapearls…but all 3 pieces I needed for my spec are now there. How so many people got theirs practically instantly at launch is beyond me, but at least I finally got mine through the endless grind.
