Benthic Azerite armor upgrade question

If have not been able to find this answer. Does anyone know the answer to either of these questions before spending pearls.

  1. I have a benthic chestpiece with bad traits at 385. If I upgrade this piece, do the traits reset to something that I would want?

  2. Instead if I purchase or find another chestpiece token, could that roll different traits, or are they all pre-set for azerite pieces?

I haven’t tested it but I assume all of the traits are preset. I don’t think they can reroll.

I kinda figured that, and is why I didnt want to spend the pearls to find out.

This Wowhead page lists all types & stats of Benthic gear.

“The main difference in this system is there are significantly less variations in gear you can get per armor token, as stats and effects are predetermined and the gear cannot warforge. Benthic Bracers have the most variation possible, with 4 different kind of Benthic Bracers.”

Thanks, I already went through that, but there is no mention specific to the azerite trait question.

On that page, if you goto the leather chest piece section, it only mentions the new trait being there, nothing about the other traits. And Arcane Heart is not something I am interested in.
