Benthic Armor - Send to Alt or Use?

So my main character is ilvl 396 and her lowest armors are at 380 (belt and cape).

Should I just send the account bound benthic (ilvl 385) leggings I just got to an alt? My main’s current leggings are ilvl 400. Or is it worthwhile to use benthic armor on my main and upgrade with the currency ?

I’ve been reading what people say on this and read that it is a “catchup” system which is why I thought perhaps I should just send it to an alt. Another point is my next highest level alt is 113 so it will be a while before she can wear the level 120 armor.

So keep on main or send to alt?

Honestly, if it were me then I think I would work on upgrading the gear for my main. Your alt is only 113 and I’d assume that you’ll do most content on your main so it seems like the best way to go. Maybe this isn’t the most efficient way to do things but what I personally did was used most of the pearls on my main to upgrade her lower slots (they were ilvl 390 i think?) vs. upgrading the higher ilvl gear that I already had the free tokens for. They only cost 5 pearls to buy a new token and doing things that way bumped me up 3-4 item levels.

Basically, tl;dr: buy tokens on your main for your lowest ilvl pieces and upgrade those. I personally upgraded the new gear to decent levels (410 ilvl or so for 3 different pieces) vs. upgrading one piece to super high ilvls.

Figure out which pieces you want to keep rolling for, then send the rest

If it were me, I would try to get the Haste/Mastery Leggings, Crit/Haste Belt with damage boost, Haste/Vers Wrists with Frost Damage, Haste/Mastery Boots with bonus to Crits, and Crit/Haste Gloves with Heals for Crits.

Good advice. I saw that some people are just buying the gear over and over until they get a socket on a piece before they upgrade it. What do you think about that? Worth doing?

I forgot that Benthic gear was even boa lol. I’ve just been disenchanting pieces I pick up lol

If you’re a serious raider or something then maybe it is worth doing but for most I think it’s probably just a waste of pearls. You’re just fighting against rng for the correct piece and also hoping that it sockets, just seems like a big waste to me when you can upgrade and buy more pieces for your main with those pearls or buy gear and send it to your alt once you’re done with your main.

I can’t imagine running most of my alts through this content and they would need to farm the pearls themselves to make use of that gear so I am not bothering with the alts.

There will have to be a more friendly alts system at some point in time and this is not is.

I’ve been selling them on a druid that I could have send to my DH tank that isn’t even in Naz yet —_—

Thanks. That was very helpful. It looks like with the cloak you want to get the one that will let you see the special trade goods.

I appreciate the advice on which traits to look for too. I have a plan now.

Crap, I scrapped a couple of pieces and disenchanted a few more.

I felt this system was fairly alt-friendly. I leveled my druid from 110-120 by tanking Timewalking dungeons. Upon hitting 120, I was able to use a bunch of Benthic tokens, spend some Timewalking badges and run the Nazjatar intro to get him to ~380 ilvl within a couple hours of dinging 120.

My DPS class alts will have a slightly harder time to level from 110 to 120, but now that I’m flying, I think even that will be fairly painless.
