Is it worth upgrading the benthic armor or is there another use for the manapearls?
No, just get the cloak that allows you to buy from Murrl and sell everything else. You can use the manapearls for essences/toys/etc.
Catchup gear comes from Normal+ 5mans (400/415/430) ilevel and the assault drops (410/415). Dont waste your time or mana pearls on upgrading Bethnic gear.

At this point probably not. I think you can get higher gear from running heroic and m0. (Someone feel free to jump in and correct me)
No, the time you’ll consume farming pearls, you’d be decked in high gear from m0 and the new pieces from assaults. Nazjatar is dead, unless you’re still farming achievements.

Honestly, I’ve been buying Benthic stuff to mail to my enchanter. Amazing source of DE mats. No other use for Benthic stuff now due to the bound to account 410’s from assault areas.
And, well, I guess some mana pearls for the Nazjatar essences but that doesn’t take many.

fwiw, the azerite armor from benethic gear is better than the token armor we get this patch because it has an extra layer of traits
i wouldn’t farm pearls for these azerite pieces but if you have a lot, it’s a good thing to spend them on.
Use them for rep and essences, and whatever other stuff you feel like buying. Benthic was the old catch up gear, its now basically worthless.

I’m sitting on like 480 pearls that I can’t really use because I already have the mount and essences.
You can buy the rep tokens to mail to alts
remember the huge stink and the many posts people made about benthic gear being to op, now a short time later most people say it is not worth it, hope these people learn from this.

That would be a good idea, but what use is rep on alts? I guess essences, but that’s only true if the essence is good for the alt.
That’s true for literally any source of gear ever released in the game…

The fact is that world quest gear is higher in ilvl and gives the stats in advance.
Yes it’s worthy, especially the azerite gear that you can upgrade to 435 and has nice traits
the azerite armor is “good” for a new 120. it’ll have an extra layer of traits over the current patch

As someone who does not run instances, I found it worthwhile upgrading Benthics - it doesn’t take long to accumulate mana pearls - to make getting the legendary cloak and starting Uldam and Pandaria easier. Once they are upgraded you get better daily quest rewards in Kul Tiras and Zandalar, so you can get decent rings and trinkets too.
It’s all means to an end, or at least to the next stair in a never-ending staircase, of getting the new gear with a base of 445 i level.
There are pets, mounts and essences I also found worth buying with mana pearls. Just check the inventories of NPCs in your Nazjatar base.
