How many more players are on Benediction than a TBC realm could hold back in the day?
probably like 3-5 times the amount
average full server from OG tbc was around 4k max
you dod the math
It’s only this pop because of ongoing layers with no plans to remove them. If queues existed people would stop dogpiling on it. At this point, it’s like the pop of 4 servers in one.
People on this forum can’t differentiate between concurrent online characters and active server population.
Full TBC servers didn’t have a a meager 4,000 active player population. 3,500~ or so was the concurrent online player cap before queues would begin. Full servers in TBC obviously had significantly more players than that.
There were 202 servers in NA in December of 2007, and about 2.5 million active subscribers. That’s over 12,000 active subscribers per server, on average.
There’s zero downside to all piling on one server. The infinite layers are the issue.
whatever the total pvp server alliance # is
Agreed, the only real downside is applicable to people who prefer a server without layers and one which has a more tight-knit community and doesn’t feel Retail-like.
Although a lot of the same issues are still there with a huge server pop - grouping isn’t necessarily easier, everyone still wants tanks, nodes and farms can be way more annoying to get. Recruiting is competing with 5x more guilds and a lot of the guilds that transfer end up disbanding because they are now no-names with no reputation and their members get absorbed into the pre-existing guilds, etc. Things like finding items on the AH (not necessarily at a good price) and finding groups at really odd hours are easier.
The alliance faction alone has more players than multiple current small servers combined
This mega realm crap is why layering should never come back and a queue should exist. Plenty of other realms need people but they don’t want to go there; they want to dogpile a realm that’s already fat.
Its the alliance dream server.
Hope layering is never removed.
Yea we should only care if horde can’t play, so let’s implement horde Vs horde, but if alliance can’t play it’s fine!
Y’all are pathetic, let the alliance have a couple servers.
Idk what you guys are talking about with this layering shenanigans. All I know is when I’m out in the world the server feels empty unless it’s a prime farm spot like the Throne of KJ.
Layering probably isn’t getting removed anymore because how would they go about doing that now? There are so many people that if they removed layers there would be 8-hour queues.
I personally think the original decision to not work on progressively getting rid of layers for Outland was a bad one and it leads to there no longer being a variety of server types.
I get that a lot of people like mega servers, that’s how they get to be mega servers. I know that you’re on one of the larger ones. I found I don’t like them after being on Herod. So now I’m in this very real position where I have a couple of really good ally friends on EF who have said nothing about transferring but if they do go over there do I just lose them and maybe even quit the ally (and I like playing my ally probably more than my horde) or join them on a server I won’t even like. It sucks. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would prefer to not have to make a choice like this.
Benediction open world is like 5 alliances for every horde.
I find beautiful horde coming here with the mouth full of ants to say they’re actually dominating the world whilst they don’t control a single farming point anymore.
Eh horde have enough pvp servers.
those are alliance alts from what i’ve been told
“alliance alts” even horde on benediction discord are already in shambles.
