Ben Howell

I know this thread is older than dirt, but since it’s already been necro’d I’ll chime in.

This was one of the only good storylines in Shadowlands, and I have no idea why it never got resolved. Ben Howell deserves justice.

I will tolerate this necro. Tie up loose ends with simple content gets a :+1: from me.

When we banished Sylvanas to save the souls in the maw, we whispered into her ear to save Ben first.

Don’t worry - she’s on it. (probably… maybe… idk)

I would had liked if there was just some big ole titan device that shook the Maw entire and rose up all souls that were undeserving of its judgement, along with reformed stygia to the floating ‘sparks’ the size of atoms which were in reality souls that had been ‘extinguished’ (Merely dormant) and relapsed them through the great cycle for their true judgement.

Then have a cool cinematic where Uther is looking up at the Bastion sky where all the souls are pouring in, and walking to their various paths & trials - Then hear a voice behind him, sobbing —

???: “Uther … I’m … I’m so, so sorry.”.

{Uther’s eyes widen, as his face pales & he slowly turns around recognising the voice}
Uther: “Arthas?”

{Arthas is kneeling on the grass in Lordaeron cloth garments, tears down his face}
Arthas: “I remember only … Glimpses of what happened after … After the sword. But I remember what … Father. You … Lordaeron.”

Uther: “We all have our sins to atone for boy. Come! We will erase whatever darkness burdens you, and magnify the light that made me proud to call you my student. Such is the new way of the Kyrian.”

They probably decided that Ben Howell got obliviated in order to drive home the tragedy of the character or something. It seems about 90% of the souls that entered into the Maw got obliviated one way or another.

It would have been good if it was a story told by a depressed Kleia after her first mission but there is a big problem: We were there too.

Because we already know what will happen to Ben and that we are already saving souls in the Maw, the only reaction that anyone in the player character situation would be: “No no no, we take him directly to Bastion without question! You want him to be obliterated in the Maw or what?”

Us doing nothing to stop it is what make this story a terrible one and a complete nonsense.
