I try and start to download WoW and after 1-2 minutes my Bell Home Hub 4000 resets all interface, i lose internet connectivity and wireless connections all around the house for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Im hard wired in the 10gb port and i have tried wireless also on top of that… Still same result.
I have tried to call Bell Support and ask them to update my HomeHub Firmware and still the same.
I can download at full speed 150mb/s StarWars the Old Republic.
But something is making my internet crash while downloading
I have tried Windows 10 and Windows 11 tried 3 different network cards a 1gb and a 2.5gb and a wireless still same error.
All drivers are up to date since i just reinstalled and updated all drives since today to test it out.
And these interface reset ONLY happen when downloading WoW.
Here are some solutions you can look at if you haven’t already:
What model is the HD you’re saving the game on? I suggest troubleshooting with other games that are playable while the download is progressing / writing to the HD. It could be an issue stemming from the download going faster than the disc writes itself / holds the data in the cache. Not sure if that would affect your whole net busting up, but look into it.
Fiddle around with the network bandwidth allotment in the battlenet app. See if lowering it will prevent the crashes. (Gear on Battle Net App > Game Settings > Download > Scroll down)
Blizzard partitions out their bandwidth. Think of it as pseudo-torrenting as many connections are routed in your download in parts. It could be possible that your hardware doesn’t allow for that to combat torrenting lmao? It’s a stretch. Maybe turn off any system security apps you may have that could interfere with this? I also have the Bell Home Hub 4000 and 1.5g/1g up/down and it’s working just fine.
Hail mary it. Try installing the game on another computer on your network, maybe get a friend to come over with their PC if you don’t have an alternative. OR (the real hail Mary) reformat that PC. You could at least start to isolate the issue from this point on.
******* 5) Try swapping out the sockets your machine / router / etc are plugged into. I remember back in the day my PC and network wouldn’t stop crashing and I replaced several parts that could be responsible for it. Ended up buying a new PC and the same problem persisted. It turns out the powerbar my PC was connected to was short circuiting… lol. SHOCKED. I’m not sure what power usage the Blizzard app uses when installing in relation to other games like SWOTR, but you never know. It could be drawing too much power. Again, as I said, troublehsoot with variations of both your PC’s and Modem’s power outlets / power bars etc.
Lastly from a Blizzard blue post regarding this issue:
" It sounds like something is causing your router cache to get overloaded. Your router is supposed to automatically clear this when it’s done with data. If you completely reinstall the launcher it should solve any problems with the launcher itself. I’d also do an extended power cycle on your router/modem and reset your PC - to clear all those network caches. Anything further would likely be due to the router itself slowly dying, and you’d probably be able to fix it by swapping the router with another one. If you’re renting yours from your ISP, this should be relatively easy to do."
