Been out of the raid game for a year or so but the new raid in 8.3 looks amazing (the art at least). What does it take for a character to be heroic raid ready?
Spam mythic+ for a few days and you’re geared. Oh and you have to farm artifact power, a lot, but you can only get a specific amount daily, otherwise you need to farm like island expeditions. Good luck.
Oh and most essences require at least a week until you can get next rank. Either through a lock, or weekly reward. Or rep.

As somone who is getting their hunter raid ready it falls down to 3 things.
- Gear
- Neck Level
- Essences
Gear is really really easy to come by. just make sure you run mythic 10 each week and watch the 440 gear fly in.
Neck level is also easy. my fresh 120 got to lvl 58 in a day. just do island weekly, do the azerite emmisaries, and without any effort you’ll max at 70 before the next raid.
this is the only tough one. look up you bis essences and grind them out. ither by doing raid/m+/pvp/Battlegrounds/rep/islands… etc… .this one is the only frustrating one tbh the neck is expanding in 8.3 but the current essences will remain so maxing them out now is only beneficial. (some new essences will be released but theres nothing you can do for that)
dont bother saving titan residium either because more than likely the amount will exponentially increase and the amount you can save up now really wont matter, just use it to get 445 azerite pieces.
For Heroic? Do some M0s, maybe a bit of M+ until the raid drops. You probably won’t clear the place week one, but getting your foot in the door and the drops in your bags doesn’t have that high a gate.
For Normal? A pulse and little else.
So essences will be my real roadblock.
Probably, yeah. The heart level should decay enough to hit at least two essence slots very quickly. But you still have to actually grind out the stuff to put in the slots.
The two most useful DPS ones so far are meme beam and CLF, neither of which are going to be especially time consuming, and either of which might be replaced in 8.3. Meme beam R2 is a single M+ run at a mid-level key. Unless Nyalotha drops reliquaries I’d expect there’ll be people pugging Heroic/Mythic EP up to Radiance (Court on Heroic) to quickly fill in CLF – Sivara is mostly just a healing check and will be outgeared quickly by a new tier, Radiance is a punching bag, and everything in Heroic until Za’qul can be steamrolled with brute force and a relatively low adherence to fight mechanics.

Gear and neck level this tier you can log in for literally an hour or two a week and get it done before 8.3.
essences do not have a catchup mechanic sadly. and they are not acount bound.
so find out which one is your bis and do the requirements until you get rank 3… rank 4 is cosmetic only.
All you “need” is essences and artifact power and you can start with normal. It should be easy to find a casual guild and then you can work your way up to a better guild.
Do high key mythic+ for gear, grind out your AP and get your critical essences. If you are out of raiding practice you may want to do some pug heroic ETs to get your feet wet again.
