Being melee in battlegrounds makes me sad

I know it’s most likely a ‘git good’ problem and that I’m not being good enough to work around the situation.

And that’s why I’m here asking for hints 'n tips.

Well, as you’ve may already noticed, I’m a Warrior.
Not full honor gear yet, still need a piece here and there to be fully PvP geared.

Well, I’m having trouble being efficient in Battlegrounds.

The main reason for this is that I can’t move due to the massive amount of CCs, stuns, slows, roots, etc.

When I manage to get close to someone, I can deal good damage and be reasonably efficient in the fight, but that’s 1 in 10 situations. Because 90% of the time, I’m stuck in some kind of CC chain or being kited by an Evoker.

As I said, I know it’s a ‘you’re bad, so get better, git gud bro’ situation. And that’s why I’m here with this question: What should I do? Is this kind of situation ‘normal’ for warriors?

(My portrait still says I’m 79, but it hasn’t updated here on the forums yet. I’m lvl 80 almost fully honor geared, just need a piece or two).

I’m no good at PvP, I’ve dabbled on my war for fun. I usually try and pick the weak targets, or be a distraction away from a flag cap, or something to that extent. Assuming we are talking about battlegrounds.

Edit: ok yeah, battle grounds. So even if I don’t have a great K/D, I can feel like I helped out by keeping their healer distracted, or prevent several people from reaching a battle that’s going on somewhere more important. It’s the little ‘behind the scenes’ stuff I go for.

It’ll hurt less once you’ve got a little gear. Spec into some more “life saving” abilities as well. The old adage holds true in PvP too. You can’t DPS dead. So live longer, I say.

Take slayer and the charge talent that lets you use it to break roots. Life changing. But getting kited will happen anyways. It’s the way of the warrior to die in a CC.

Man my all time favorite wow memory was sitting in the back in an AV turtle and just using aimed shot on fools.

Are you talking about Epic BGs? Those are caster fests.

Use Odyn’s Fury and Avatar talented with Titan’s Torment to break roots. Use your mount to close gaps as much as possible before you Charge; never waste a Heroic Leap by jumping in when you can use your mount to close that distance during an opener instead.

LoS casters by moving around pillars, buildings, terrain, etc. as long as you aren’t LoS your own healers. It’s tempting to chase after ranged enemies, but stay calm and don’t allow yourself to be kited. Swap to a different target closer to your objective and protect your healer if you think you are being baited away from where you’re supposed to be.

Warriors are not in a good spot for bgs unless they have a pocket healer.

Fury does a massive amount of damage and should be reallt good but the constant slows do slow it down.

Dont do what i did and watch bajheera his a good warrior but ull notice his health doesnt drop much in bgs ehen he jumps right in there. Thays cause he always has a pocket healer allowing him to make plays. In randoms u wont find it.

From my experience the only good melees in bgs are ones with alot of disengages and immunity.

I really only bg so i know what im talking about. In bgs ww monk and paladin are the most fun melees with dks not far behind.

With as much mobility and teleports that ww monk has plus karma u can jump in do ur burst and get out before u get one shotted saving ur karma for if you get targetted.

Rets are also fun. Damage is low atm but with bubble and steed u can safely bail out of team fights after a burst and ur ranged attacks will keep u in the fight longer then a warrior who has to be fully in.

Dks got grip to peel off people so even if they dont have strong disengage (except cor rider now) they can still feel useful.

The main reason u see fury warrior as s tier in alot of pvp tier list is for solo shuffle or arenas. Since u have a pocket healer or only facing two people u can do alot more without getting jumped on by a group. Its a good skirmisher and does great in small groups or 1v1s (unless ur against ur mortal enemy the mage)
