I think a great way to illustrate how awful it is right now for pvp gearing is imagining yourself on a lvl 59 alt.
Right now: I can either keep my alt at 59 and actually just play on a level playing field, obviously casual play, but it’s a great way to learn your class and get better. The minute I got 60? I have weeks (at least) ahead of me of being instantly decimated just to get the CONQUEST to buy 200 ilevel (lol) pieces. Now I have to again spend weeks getting turned out in order to push and upgrade those. Let’s say I’m a gamer and I achieve rating, then I need to farm honor to upgrade. ALLL WHILE I also need to farm torghast weekly which I am also behind on. My bis legendary is in a torghast floor not up or a world boss? Enjoy waiting longer.
With static sets: save up honor while leveling so you have a good chunk of the honor set at 60. Play some bgs or whatever get full set. Get turned out for like a week until you have the conquest set. Congrats you are now able to pvp.
This is a no brainer, and the system in place is completely indefensible. #STATICSETSNOW
You missed a step between these two where you queue for and hide (surf the zerg) in Epic BGs so people in randoms don’t complain about your gear score while still getting some honor/conquest.
hate to be a toxic member of the community but it’s really hard to care when blizzard’s gear system is so toxic
but people underutilize afking in epic bgs
in every epic bg there’s several ‘defending’ locations that wont tag you as afk for not doing anything
you can really get 600-800 honor for running into a wall alt tabbed
I’ve been really enjoying messing with my combat rogue and feels like I’m learning a lot about setting up with it and making plays. Will sit 59 as long as I can so I can #PLAYTHEGAME
Not sure if it’s the same for horde but low cr alliance rbgs are literally Stephen Hawking marathons and if the lead asks for a modicum amount of exp you sit for around for 40 minutes waiting for it to fill until you decide it’s better to just alt f4.
why would you go to lvl 59? vs staying lvl 50, you have more stats at lvl 50 with bis gear than a lvl 59 with quest greens. shoot some of the bis bfa items are better than 170s blues.
hem in any case. this late in the season you can just do your full covenant campaign get basically a full set of 197 gear then grind out some 0 cr Rated BGs. you will cap honor faster than you can spend it.
just grind out the conquest set and then start pushing rating when you get past the first break point.
and static sets is basically asking for the live game to be a tournament realm where you get everything handed to you.
closest thing was legion templates. worst system to ever exist imo not choice in what stats you had so gear didn’t matter. people literally doing about the same effectiveness with nothing on literally no gear on the character and maybe some white weapon.
the balance was if you got lucky and had good stats or not in your template.
so i do not agree that a full set of anything is beneficial. it eliminates all character progression. which if this was something like overwatch then maybe it could work but this is a mmorpg, character progression is part of the fun.
Ya it would be cool to just play a competitive game mode without extra barriers to entry

Could do cov campaign for 197 pieces, but you need a healthy renown level to finish the campaign, but being at 200 is a healthy ilvl to push 1400 without a bud in comparison to 170-180.
Instead of running mythics (wqs never offered me gear upgrades on any of my characters at any point of the game), you can just jump into 2s/3s/rbgs and let your w/l ratio go to the super negatives, it’s not the ideal approach and I’m starting to ragequit it on my second priest (will link), but my shaman who now has 0 honor is about 1600 and I can’t stand playing him anymore lmao.
but ye you can attempt to play the game til you’re like full combatant or challenger upgraded gear which is not fun.

if you just want max ilvl gear then i suggest you guys request for them to keep the tourney realms up for you guys to play in then.
but for the rest of us normal people we like to progress and out characters and use that progression to stomp out kids who think they should get bis gear from just pvp.
like the whole point of wow pvp is to out gear kids and stomp them out untill next season, this isn’t a real esport game and i doubt it will ever be.
