Being Destroyed

Getting better, it is getting worse. Before I was doing ok on a Mythic Dungeon level 2 and had even completed a level 3. Now, since Season 3, on a level 2 Dungeons I get blasted away in seconds. I have upgraded my gear considerably since Season 2, learned more about sockets and gems. Concentrated on Intellect, was advised to add some to Critical Strike. What can I do?

Word of advice to anyone trying to get better at WoW, download Details and have a window just for deaths. At the end of the dungeon, inspect every one of your deaths. Learn the reason. Was it the healer slacking, or did you die due to your own fault? It’s usually the latter. Look up the ability that killed you in the dungeon journal and go from there.

Use Icyveins and WoWhead class guides for help. Even guide videos on youtube, there is no shame in seeking help and improving.

Mostly don’t stand in bad. If you’re dying in +2s chances are very good that you’re letting more powerful casts go off and standing in circles. There just isn’t enough unavoidable damage to kill you otherwise.

Can’t see your profile to give advice on gear.

But failure in 2s usually boils down to missing kicks and failing mechanics

Watch POV on Youtube and make sure it’s your spec. It’s gona help alot.

Also Spec guides with comentary.

Continue playing. Continue making attempts.

Identify what killed you. Why did others survive and you dont? What hit you?

Once you identified what killed you, what are you gonna do next time to prevent it? Dodge it. If you cant dodge it, you have to interrupt it. If interrupts doesn’t work, stun them or knockback them.

Keep playing. Understand the game. It’s okay to be noob. Just learn the fights. Soon you would improve. We were all once a noob.

Went to Icyveins several days ago and followed their advice on Enhancements and Gems, it helped.

Interrupt the mobs, don’t stand in bad, know your class and what your spell do, learn your rotation and how each spell / proc interact with each other, learn from your mistake and accept your own mistake, don’t be those kind of guy who think all the fault they face is caused by your party members.

“Download Details and have a window just for deaths”? How do I do that?

Its an add on manager called curseforge. Details in there. I recommend also one called GTFO. It makes obnoxious sounds to let you know you are standing in something bad. DBM (deadly boss mobs) is also an add on that tells you what to do in dungeons. It helped me a lot. Do you know the mechanics in this season’s dungeons? And also the names of enemies to prioritize interruptions in mobs. For example, Halls of atonement, houndmasters, obliterators, and the dude that does siphon should be interrupted asap.

First question. Is it this mage?

Second. What is your ilvl?

Third. Are you using an m+ specific build?

Interrupting mob casts is VERY important in m+. Some can cause immediate wipes if they go off.
Another point is poop on the ground. Fire bad. Always.
Another is healer dispells. Is it actually your fault or is the healer letting that nasty dot tick on you?
You can also solo soak/cleanse yourself via iceblock. And decurse as well. Honestly mages have crazy utility.

You are probably having issues with the casters chunking you.

I recommend getting the addon Plater, and finding a good profile for it you like. I use Vesps. It will tell show you the most important interrupts with a little glowy rotating thing.

The biggest thing is interrupts. Without it, everyone gets chunked. Even I am still learning the best times and abilities to interrupt.

Also, see if Mages have any Unique CCs you can chain, like I can. If I throw down a Binding Shot, I can then throw down an Implosion Trap, have them interrupted from the knock up, and then dragged to the center of the arrow for both a stun and a grouping.

I don’t think that way. What amazed me was I was doing ok in Season 2, now in Season 3 when I show up to the first fight in the dungeon, something blasts me and I am dead, and as soon as I come back, it happens again. As a Mage I can stand in the distance and cast spells and for the most part am safe, but not anymore.

Use guides on WoWhead, IcyVeins, Archon, Murlok.io, and so on to make sure you’re on the right track with your talents and stat priority, then practice your rotation until you can trust your hands to know what to push and when without giving it much thought so you can focus on mechanics.

Also get better gear. You’re 670 ilvl according to Raider.io, so you can probably bump it up just doing Bountiful Delves until you’re out of Coffer Keys.

If you’ve progressed your Delver’s Journey to the second tier, which you can check in the group finder in the Delves tab along the bottom of the window, then you can also use a Shrieking Quartz - bought from the Murloc at the Delver’s Headquarters in Dornogal or found as loot in Delves - to summon a boss that can reward you with additional loot, possibly including a Delver’s Bounty which you can use before you finish to get an extra chest at the end of the run.
The chest’s reward scales with the Tier of Delve you’re doing, with the best reward coming from a Tier 8.

Which timeline of season 2? The start or at the end with the turbo boost and you r geared? This is a new season, and the current season m+ 2 is equivalent to m+ 6-7 from season 2, from the sound of it u just seems under gear, what’s your ilvl now?

Current level is 684.

You are more than geared for a M+2, probably need to know the mechanic of the dungeon I guess. Anyway just try more and practice more, thing get easier when u r more familiar with the dungeon.

Hover over the little cogwheel in the top right corner of Details and go to Window Control > Create new window. It will make another Details box that you can set to ‘deaths’. I’m not home to get on game at the moment so apologies if those instructions aren’t correct, typing from memory.
