Being attacked with warmode off?

So has anyone been attacked by an opposing faction while having warmode off? I am not sure if it was something I did or something about the invasions that I was not aware of.

I was doing an invasion elite kill quest.
I was not in a group.
There were orange unattackable alliance there as well as other horde.
The druid attacked me and only me and the other horde and alliance did not join in.
The other people left too soon for me to ask any of them if he was targetable to them.
I did kill him (so this is not a complaint about being ganked).

Did you get too close to an alliance base? You can still get flagged for doing that like before.

Is it possible you got too close to an Alliance town or guard?

I’ve been playing a lot on my Horde druid and there’s been plenty of times I ran past an Alliance town and didn’t notice I was tagged until I had 2 minutes left on it.

If you do not own Arathi Highland OR dArkshore and go inthere with Warmode off you will still be flagged on even if you fly through it casually.

For some reason, there are still PvP-flagging mobs in normal mode (although some of the worst offenders appear to have been changed to non-PvP mobs). If you stray too close to one and damage it (with an active or passive ability), you’ll get flagged.

If an opposite faction player intentionally or accidentally also flags, PvP can happen (it’s also possible the person “attacking” you was just as confused as to how they became flagged as you)

You can still flag in all the ways you use to. War mode is more of a replace pvp servers idea. For those who were never on pvp servers though, they old flagging methods are still there.

My last PvP experience was killing a Belf Paladin who got flagged in Proudmoore Keep out of Warmode. I saw him doing a WQ, toggled on, unloaded on him, and teleported back to Tradewinds.

I’d say you got auto-flagged by getting too close to an NPC.

You can still be flagged for pvp without having warmode on. Getting aggro on the opposing faction’s guard auto flags you. Going into a WF zone when you don’t control it also does this.

You can still be flagged for pvp even if you aren’t in war mode. Hit an opposite faction guard and you’ll be flagged.

Yes. I got out of a group doing a dungeon (Alliance lvl 28), ported back to SW, tried to get to the AH and was ganked 4 times by a 120 Horde Rogue. Warmode off. PVP off.

Reloaded UI, restarted WoW, tried again and ganked again.

Just typical Blizzard garbage. Tried to open a ticket asking what was happening but it’s all robots now so no human is left to explain.

There are some odd bugs at times where I’ve found myself flagged without a clue as to why. I come to suspect - without any actual proof mind you - that it may have something to do with phasing. You enter an area of the opposite faction but don’t see it because it’s phased, but the system still flags you as being in range.

Op,I did had an the same thing happen to me with one of my alts.Not on warmode doing Dustvar quest can’t figure that out.I even asked the person why and how did he hit me,there was no answer.Found out by carefully review details it wasn’t him it was a paladin using judgement I don’t know how that could be when he is an allied.

If you aggro a town guard or type /pvp you get flagged for PvP the same way it used to work on dedicated PvE servers. At that point anyone of the opposite faction can type /pvp themselves and attack.

Did they change it? Thought you had to be in a major city to set the warmode on.

if that’s the case, nothing a gm can do for you.

/pvp is not warmode.

Getting attacked by a guard or typing /pvp does NOT activate Warmode, it flags you for PvP in non-warmode phases

Wasn’t near any enemy guards just folk doing champion of azeroth quest and wasn’t flagged.

There are strange things happening in Azeroth.
