Maybe I’m missing something, and I’m sure there’s probably an addon out there that helps with this, but it sure would be nicer if the game itself did a better job of tracking progress on actual storyline quests in the game, and not just for current expansions but all of the past ones, too. Anytime we get that special quest icon, the brown and yellow one, there should be something like the dungeon journal that simply lists them all, and shows our most recent step. I don’t need breadcrumbs for the future steps, just to help remind me where I left off, or to show me the start of ones I haven’t found or done yet.
I get that I can look in the achievements section and see a list of “storylines”, but that’s like being given an index when I’m looking for more of table of contents, I suppose. I’m not trying to simply tick boxes to earn points, I’m wanting to go progress through the lore.
A perfect example, in the achievement list, I randomly found one I hadn’t done yet, called “The Pride of Kul Tiras”. Check the box to track progress. Cool. Complete the storyline. Now what? Where to go? Warcraft shouldn’t be forcing me to use addons or go to wowhead for this sort of thing, this is how people that want to learn about the story in the game should be approaching it. Why is this so needlessly complex?
