Being a Mage in Azure Span

I want to preface this by the fact that I’m only shedding some playful light onto a funny situation and this isn’t a genuine complaint. Does anyone else find it funny how being a mage in Azure Span plays out?

My title is quite literally “Archmage”. Any mage who went through the Legion Class Order Hall questline will know by the end we’re essentially on the council of the Kirin Tor alongside Kalecgos and Khadgar, we’ve become mages of legend alongside Aegwynn and Medivh (maybe I’m exaggerating lol) . But point still stands that when we interact with the Kirin Tor mages, they treat us as just run of the mill adventurers, even going so far as to have one of the lesser mages “allow us” to climb up to the top of the tower in Antonidas. Wouldn’t we technically be their boss?
Again, its a tall order for Blizz to make entirely different dialogue based on a single class, I was just wondering if anyone else thought of this?

“Ok, ok. Clearly you guys don’t know who I am.”

Maybe they usurped and kicked you off of the council when you were in the Shadowlands. Those selfish mage janitors climbed the ranks.

They will always do this, because they view us less of a legend more of nothing. Wrath dalaran prove that to me.

I’d like more options to talk to NPCs that are rude to us, to either threaten, intimidate, or remind them of their place.

Like, imagine how funny it would be if they let you throw Nathanos through a table.

I was thinking that. They probably thought all the mages who went to SL were dead.

In which case, those Kirin Tor mages should be like “OMG it’s a ghost, kill it!”

I’ve always hated that NPCs completely ignore all our old deeds and ranks etc…that we have obtained in the various expansions and treat us like it’s their first time hearing we exist.

That said I understand why it’s because so many people started at different times in the game it would be difficult to track each individual’s start and address them accordingly as they also couldn’t just have the NPCs treat us the way I want them to as it wouldn’t make any sense for new players.

WoW has never been very good at adding in class or character-specific dialogue except for the rare few easter eggs. On the one hand, it’s kind of disappointing; on the other, it does make the rare few exciting when you find them.

I was grudgingly pleased the old dwarf dragon, who would not shut up about how I could not possibly understand what it’s like to go to a place that used to be home and see it all changed/gone, finally got around to noticing I was a NE and oh, right, probably could empathize a little.

“Kalecgos, Khadgar, please tell these PEASANTS who I am!!”

Hmm,kind of thinking about that you nay be right. I’ll just polyphor them to be sure.

Every PC was caught in a time bubble and popped out 5 years later for this expansion so they probably figured we all died.

“Go collect seven duck asses.”

“Excuse me?”

“Seven. Get to it, mage.”

“… arch mage.”

I was too busy feeling like I was in Borean Tundra again to notice but I do love the Mage stuff. It’s awesome, brings back a lot of good memories. The second zone was not very fun but I love the Azure Span.

Must be from the same vein as the line they drop on your once you join night fae covenants…

Fae: “They would take their place among us, for they have spent their lives protecting and cherishing nature”

Warlock: With a literall army of fel demons around him.
“Yeah… go nature… woooo”

I’m still wondering why Khadgar calls me “old friend”. Dude, I met you once and that was only a week ago.

They did it for DKs for one of the red dragon quests in BFA. It was awesome, even though it didn’t change the actual gameplay of the quest one bit, the fact that the NPCs remembered the Legion mount questline was still cool.

And they did it for priests in the Xal’atath part of the mini-raid questline in BFA. All that shade she throws at “that shortsighted priest” if you’re any other class is nothing compared to if you actually ARE her ex-wielder.

Is it weird that it feels good to have NPCs hold grudges against me?

A rogue whose chosen specialization is “assassination”, wielding blades called “kingslayers”.

“Yeah… great. Nature.”
