Heya fellow paladins,
I’ve started level holy and am quite enjoying the spec. I had a few questions however regarding a few spells and uses.
First off, Beacon of Light. I realise depending on content that who I cast it on will change. My question is who and for what content in both PvE and PvP? I would assume that:
- 2v2 myself while healing the dps
- 3v3 possibly the second dps
- Rbgs Like 3’s but, perhaps changing to myself if focused
- Dungeons is a tough one. I’d think myself as to its hard to know which dps will take damage consistently above the others.
Are these fairly correct assumptions? Also, do you swap Beacon frequently in any content?
Secondly, Light of the Martyr. Do you use this spell often? I feel if I have beacon on myself I would but, I’m unsure to be honest. I’m very new to Paladin yet, am enjoying Protection so much and really want to dip into Holy.
Thanks for any help and pointers. Reading a guide is one thing, hearing how it plays out in specific content from other players is sure another! Thank you
In PVP you mostly take beacon of faith for double beacon. So in 2s you have beacon on yourself and your partner. In 3s I prefer to beacon both of my partners and not myself. I don’t have experience with RBGs so I can’t comment on that.
In dungeons you beacon the tank.
In most content you don’t swap beacon very often - it’s mostly set and forget. There are a few scenarios where you would (like sun king’s salvation) but otherwise it stays on 1 person the entire time.
Light of the martyr has it uses, especially in M+. I would say I use it seldom everywhere else and occasionally in M+ when I need emergency healing (which can be often).

Awesome, thanks so much for the reply and advice/answers Indo. Just what I was looking for
a tip for m+ and raids with martyr that someone told me is to bubble before martyr so u take no damage while spamming it

Also adding to this for Light of the Martyr, Divine Protection reduces damage taken by 20%.

I imagine that in BGs you’ll only have a dedicated beacon target if you’re pocket healing. Otherwise you’ll beacon people upon arrival, choosing your most likely dependents and giving them beacon before the fighting really kick off.
Defaulting to yourself more often than not

Thanks for all the tips and advice guys, it goes a long way in getting a good understanding of combining abilities and what to do and when. Greatly appreciated!
I shall keep at it! Thank you

I have heard that depending on what you’re pushing key wise beacon juggling key targets can be optimal, like if a mechanic is causing sustained damage on a squishy targets. but that’s some advanced sorcery and I wouldn’t worry about it until you’re at a point that such optimization matters.
