The argument for the WoW tokens are the same as they always were:
People that would spend real money on gold are generally already doing so.
Gold farming accounts often create in game problems via in game spam or simply monopolizing resource nodes.
It diverts the cash to blizzard while killing off 3rd party gold sellers.
If people wanted to buy gold to compete in PvP, they are likely already doing so.
