I think it goes without saying that the “hero talents” are welcoming and are looking to be fun but there is a serious problem going forward…how are you developers planning to balance them when you already have such awful balancing issues currently? I think thats what the player base would like to see more of is about 4 or 5 months, or even longer, of you guys sitting down and taking a real hard deep dive into the specs and classes we have and not trying to distract us with “woohoo season of discovery!” Or “woohoo cataclysm classic!” (Which lets be honest no one is excited for cata) and just focus intently on the where, why and how, of your current roster of classes and specs. Instead of showing us hero talents and everyone going “woah that looks so busted!” And then the cool fun ability gets nerfed into obscurity.
Blizzard devs with the “feedback” of this game on balance is like the nerdy highschool band geek trying to be accepted by the popular kids. The popular kids make demand after demand that go into absolute craziness and you follow through with making them happy. (Im a ret paladin, this has basically been my life playing this game)
Another mentality that the devs have to get rid of is this “oh ok X,Y and Z classes are doing good, lets nerf them” instead, work on buffing things to be fun with everything else. And I know some people are gonna retort this with “but then the raids and dungeons would be so easy!” Or “its easier to nerf than buff” which are poor, lazy excuses if you seek to do whats easy, not whats right and as far as making dungeons and raids easy, S3 of DF is the easiest its been. Im pushing 3k on my paladin when similarly id only be at about the 2200 or 2500 mark by now
People wanted talents. This will take years to balance again, wow doesn’t have as much classes as other MMOs but with so many Specs, a class is technically generally “3 class in 1”. This is a lot of data to work through. And a lot harder to balance than the old talent choice system and a lot harder to understand to most the player base.
Asking for balance wont happen if they keep adding new class and reworking talent again. It’s not in the worse state currently, any spec and class can work. I think the OP is more asking for “breaking the meta” which is unrealistic! You never will have 100% parity for every specs.
I’m not sorry I have an opinion and I’m not sorry you disagree with it. We’re getting this crap whether I like it or not. Doesn’t mean I have to be content with it.
What I am asking for is for the dev teams to have a serious sit down and go “ok with everything we’re doing we have to get as close to realistically feeseable as possible to have some harmony between the spec and classes.”
Which is tough to do and takes time but I think it can be accomplished, even with as hard an ask as that is and how bleak a response it is likely to become.
The only one of the two of us who cant be taken seriously is someone who flames because they post 2/3rds of a metaphor…please see yourself out
You have a very fun spec but it’s overpowered a bit. You can:
Nerf it to bring it in line with other specs
Nerf it somewhat within reason but bump everyone else up
No nerfs and just buff everyone else up
On top of this you can buff mob hp and perhaps even damage slightly to compensate for the more wild and crazy playstyles people get to have via Hero Talents.
I think the mentality of “nerf because its easier than buffing others” needs to be deincentivised until it gets abandoned. I dont mind minor nerfs here and there but like when ret pallies S3 4 set was debuted and then blizzard went “ok 50% nerf!” Like woah woah woah lets slow down and try a 15% nerf, then 25% and if we’re happy and things are mathmatically sound then start adding to the truly under performers
