Been Rogue Main whole life playing WoW. Mained rogue in 2019 but had to reroll

I love PvP and i love Rogues… but i know I wanna do Pre mades/bgs and Arenas in TBC eventually… BUT i also wanna do the Raids… cause I never truly got raid geared in classic/tbc… & i feel a big part of it was cause i was a rogue main & no one wants rogues past phase 4 it seems… So my question is, is it worth it to roll Rogue again this time around and Pray for Raids spots and Even Raid spots in TBC? Rogue are worse in TBC PvE but KINGS in PvP arenas… so it leads me too Mage or Rogue, love rogue move obv but i WANNA raid… Any suggestions or feedback will be Greatly Appreciated!

i’ve always had plenty of rogues in my 40 man raids :expressionless: but it’s true that as a rogue you will find it harder to get into them. you kinda gotta be proactive and personable. try to get in on the ground floor of a new raiding guild and take up some responsibilities like farming herbs for the guild bank or whatever.

A lot of people want to be Rogue in Vanilla and TBC. They’re the option for people that refuse to tank and still want to do DPS, but gearing them after pre-bis (Much like a warrior) sucks.

In general Vanilla just doesn’t have enough decent loot to go around until Naxx, thus so many speed run guilds expects their Rogues/Warriors to stay in the BG mines for months to reduce raid gear competition, on top of doing splits to reduce it even further. If your goal is to “Get raid geared” in Vanilla, Rogue is a terrible option.

My Rogue buddy in Era didn’t get his second weapon for like 1.5 years and by that point his other raid weapon was dated. It’s not a good feeling

Also issue for Rogues more than any other class in the game, finding groups for dungeons or pre-bis will be a nightmare without a friend healer or tank. Of all classes tanks/healers get spammed by more than anything for dungeon DPS it’s Rogue. And the Rogue almost always needs what the tank is there for.

While I’m at it I’d recommend nobody raid at 60, the leveling is where it’s at. 60 raiding is just people in denial of how bad it is.

Rogue is always worth it! We’re the best after all. Plus you can stealth and afk anywhere. Win win.
If they don’t let you raid they’re too sweaty, easy pass.

There not kings in arena, they’re really good if you’re really good. They’re kind of like hunters in classic. Hunters in general are terrible for pvp unless you’re a ridiculously good pvp’r that plays nothing but hunter.

Hunter is OP in tbc and great at leveling in classic so that would be a solid choice but you will suffer and feel like hunter is the worse pvp class in classic until you get really really good and near bis gear.

Rogue is fun and worth it.

Vanilla.
Just get R14, get some AQ40 loot (set) and stack up around 32% crit and 1k attack power and profit. EZ sauce.
TBC.
Get Gladiator S1 and Kara offset stuff, join a raid team also and have the best gear possible, learn RMP get Glad every season for a leg up on weapons making your life an order of magnitude easier.

Wrath is basically a repeat of TBC.

PROFIT.

In before someone says its too hard, just learn, adapt, play with the same people and you will go far.

so what is better then rogue in tbc arenas if they arent the ones with the crown?.. either mage or priest. but any hardcore tbc arena player will say rogue is best with Shadowstep and Cloak given to them in tbc.

They’re good but the average pvp’r will not do well with tbc rogue.

Its more about comps in BC than a specific class. I am not saying rogue is bad I am saying the BC version of rogue is more skill based than classic rogue especially in 3s

Eh… that’s kinda TBC across the board really for Arena 3’s. Tho I could make a case that 5’s are way more fun and less scripted because more can go on there for a much bigger variety of comps.

2’s is not very good tho, and really its always been kinda bad outside of Late S11 Cata and S13, 14 and 15 (mop), with near the rest of existence of 2’s being truly bad.

But I am incredibly bias.

My only complaint about 5’s is the lack of participation and the Q dodging.

If for some reason I do TBC again, unlikely to do 2’s or 3’s again because whiles there are quite a few viable comps, its just so scripted like Wrath in that way; especially now with everyone using WA for CD offensive / defensive detection and reactive macro’s in addition to players who literally cheat using AHK scripts.

I really wanted to be rogue due to PvP and all but as you said leveling sucks as they aren’t very good leveling class, finding groups sucks and every time I go on the LFG I see tons of rogues and hunters and very little tanks / healers

Thus I went shadow priest and not looking back

I get instant invites for dungeons to the point I can never be worried about being ganked due to always being in a dungeon group.

I have great solo experience due to being ranged plus self heals , I can hold my own in PvP easy and am still great in group PvP as I can heal and do damage

Rogue is great on paper and would prob been fun in a solo game but I feel being Priest/ shaman/ Paladin/ Druid / warrior makes for a much smoother leveling experience and gives way better end game options for raiding/ gearing

do not be discouraged to play rogue, make one after your priest is done when the server mellows out and more normal non-hyper optimized players are leveling.

You will have a good time, its not a bad class to level, and its decent all the way around. As mentioned above its a very skill based class so if you elect to master that it can be very rewarding.

Personally i think Disc Priest is GOAT in TBC Arenas. S-tier comp options in all brackets. DKs not in the game yet to ruin your Priestly life. Synergizes extremely well with the other meta pvp specs in 2.4.3

I did make a rogue originally , got him to lvl 12 but I really hated the experience and I have 2 rogues in retail

Stealth is not as good due to mobs higher level easily detecting me on top of most of them moving around and turning towards me just before I can ambush, also as a mele random patrol mobs often jump me while trying to kill a single mob

No self heals and I need to be high level to get dungeon invites while as my priest I get insta Inv for dungeons I am 2-3 lvls below

Overall I feel way more powerful as priest, groups always wait for me if I need to go afk for a few min, and I feel very useful

Rogue is really cool in concept due to PvP but I never enjoyed it in PVE and I always feel disposable in any group content

Doing something different is not a bad move, and Priest is REALY strong in both PVE and PVP; especially in TBC.

Just play what you want, find a guild that’s not comprised of virgin sweat lords.

What? Rogue leveling is where all the fun is lol… Get to 32 switch to full SUB and murder everyone.

You have to raid if you go rogue tho.

Spriest same thing but around 42 is when you can start murking everyone

I get destroyed by any trash mobs if it’s not 1vs1, if I am killing a mob and another jumps me I am dead lol.

They all seem to see me from stealth and getting in position takes forever due to 50% speed during stealth to begin with.

With my priest at lvl 20 I already ganked a couple alliances that were 5 lvls above me and barely got scratched lol.

Fear > Devouring plague + SW pain > mind blast > mind flay > mind flay and the lvl 25 gnome mage was dead lmao

Don’t think I would have had the same luck with my rogue

Don’t roll your class for raids roll your class because you want to play it.
If your guild doesn’t have a raid spot for you because you’re the “wrong class” that means you’re in the wrong guild.

Good guilds bring the player not the class/spec.
I’d rather have a reliable Boomkin that shows up every week than 30 warriors who flake half the time.

Find a quality casual progression guild, dude. The top 5% of guilds are the meta chasers that lock out classes from raids. The other 95% of guilds are happy to take the 40 who sign up. They aren’t bringing 25 Warriors.

What is this thread? Just play what you enjoy.
