Been out of the loop for Abit, could I solo PVE content as Resto?

Questions in the title, I don’t get to play too terribly often but I’ve been thinking about becoming a resto main because healing is my fav thing to do in video games lol

Just curious on how resto fairs going through solo content for BFA?

It’s solid. Slightly slower than doing content as dps, but solid. Sunfire as a spammable aoe pulling tool is awesome.

A good idea is to take feral affinity for extra damage. Crucible of Flame helps your dps quite a bit as well. If you’re ok with world pvp, you can enable war mode and do 25% more damage in cat form.

Would there be anything wrong with balance affinity? I’ve played feral for a while but not the biggest fan of it, rather just do straight up damage rather than more DoT.

Feral does more damage and doesn’t spend mana for cat abilities (although this doesn’t matter in open world)
I play with pvp always on and master shape shifter (pvp talent) is awesome.
Honestly open world you can do whatever you want and be fine but you will be un optimised.

So playing resto with the feral spec I could be healing, shooting Sunfire and moon fire and turn into a cat at will? Sounds like alot of fun and very Druid-ey lol I’ll give it a shot

I’ve got 2 Druids, this guy (Guardian/Feral) and an alt at about 415 ilvl currently that’s Balance/Resto

Resto + Feral affinity is a blast. Get your HoTs rolling, drop a sun fire, go cat, couple rakes, couple swipes, ferocious bite or two, and my lord, it’s some impressive DPS for a healing spec lol

I always like to see how much dps I can sustain on fights where healing isn’t really too much of a concern. Like Rezan outside of his bleed on tyrannical. Tend to hold around 25-30k depending on when he dies compared to my cyclotronic trinket.

If you have a bad dps or someone gets every pursuit I can sometimes catch them which is always enjoyable :grinning:

Anything can complete solo content, in most cases up to and including autoattack in travel form. About half the mobs you meet are barely capable of overcoming Ysera’s Gift even before you factor in azerite shield traits. It’s not uncommon even in quest gear for non-elite mobs to be mechanically unable to kill you unassisted, nor is it unheard of to come back from the bathroom to find something wailing ineffectually away at your 100% health bar.

That doesn’t really change anywhere in BFA except for the first couple days in Nazjatar. And even then you’re given a free 370 weapon for following invincible NPCs around, followed by a free 385 and 20 manapearls for four more (you don’t have to do the upgrade quest right away) before even leaving the base, and can quickly fill out the rest of the set.

Resto won’t do it faster than a dedicated DPS spec, but it will do it. People recommend Balance and Guardian for soloing because stuff like treants or generally being indestructible lets them moonfire up pulls of arbitrary size and kill it all at once.

Honestly though spec is a moot point because you can respec freely out of combat anyway and the gear is all normalized so hard that for general purposes everything translates between them except azerite traits and weapons. If you want to heal other people, you can always switch to resto in the field when grouped. I’m a career healer myself, but there’s little reason to be one in the overworld, and what reasons there are rarely last longer than a single kill.

Short answer, no.

I personally roll my Resto Druid with the Balance Affinity. I deal a little less damage than a Feral Affinity Resto Druid, but that’s ok. I prefer having the range on my Resto. It makes me feel more safe is all. Simply because we lack the armor and shields that the other healers have. If they get up close to you, you better hope you have your HoTs running already or have Swiftmend on hand.

That’s personally why I prefer Balance Affinity. Just my personal play style.

But if you’re not too worried about dying or getting your HoTs off, go Feral. It’s fun and as others have said, you’ll do a decent amount of dps and clear trash easily. You also won’t be spending your mana while you do it.

You’ll do better with balance, tbh, and balance uses pretty much the same gear as resto.
