Genuinely curious I suppose if I should stick a hoof back in it.
I stopped playing back when they decided to close down Lava Lash, now they are just combining everyone into one massive server? Is it even worth considering coming back to?

its still fun and worth playing.
pve / friends yes
pvp no
pvp is a joke unless you like doing drinking games to laugh at it
If you’re a fan of PVP, then no. I doubt you are since Lava Lash
PVE, actually I would say yes. The only thing left to do is raid log, so if your interest is seeing the raids, especially raids with new challenges instead of just target dummies, then probably worth returning.
Now, you need to go ahead and accept that rogues and hunters will never be nerfed, so if you can deal with that, return and try the raids.
There’s absolutely nothing to do outside of raids though, so I would pick up a game on the side that has some substance.
SoD is in great shape population-wise.
They announced server merge in anticipation on a dip in population… but then the population didn’t drop, it actually increased. So it’s been several weeks with no merge in sight.
As far as gameplay, going to echo sentiments here. PvE is fun. PvP is a meme. If you like Classic raiding it’s a good time. MC was a big success and BWL looks even better with lessons learned from SoD MC. Lots of new shiny loot, new challenges in the raid, new dungeons, yada yada.
I mean, I already lost my community and server because of poor choices Blizzard made in the past. I’m hesitant to swap somewhere at the moment until I know exactly where everything going to fall. Lava Lash was a wonderful Community and I am still very sad to see it completely wiped out of existence.
Plus side, I’m the only person on Lava Lash right now and Leveling / Gathering is a breeze.
Also, no. The only interest I really ever had in PvP was grinding Alterac Valley for equipment. I play a restoration shaman so I really don’t care about DPS rankings.
Why do you keep lying about the population lmao
Not worth it at all. Servers are ghost towns there’s never raids running and the economy is terrible. On the highest pop server in sod Wild Growth and can’t find a single person to run end game dungeons or raids with. It looks just like era servers totally empty. Would recommend trying out The War Within or Cata at this point. Hope you have a great day Nyaria
If its anything like the chaos bolt assassination by blizzard there is probably a lava lash community on the destination server(there is a chaos bolt guild on crusader strike with like 20 raid teams keeping the old server alive after blizzard executed us we basically have our own lfg and everything)
Cataclysm was one of my least favorite expansions, and the newest expansion seems to be completely focused around the bimbo void elf witch that everyone’s stupidly thirsty for, for some reason. I also do not find the Earthen Compelling in the slightest.
I am really not interested in either of them, I liked season of discovery due to the fact it was firmly in the older style, but had some of the newer things that fixed some glaring issues I thought Classic had.
Though seems like I’m getting mixed information in regards to whats going on in SOD.
Yes, I could probably find some people from Lava Lash on other servers. However, my guild is broken apart. Was a guilds I played with all the way from TBC classic through wrath classic into Three seasons of SoD.
Still in touch with them out of game, but it’s never going to be the same again. :\
Time to jump ship for a while, Thrones of Liberty comes out later this month and they made changes from the last beta that are damn good.
If I was you I would try it out and hope AOC and Dune turn out to be good as well.
Blizzard has turned into Walmart they give you crappy service and expect you to stick around because they are Walmart. Well unlike Walmart Blizzards competitors are starting to close the gap, and that is good because hopefully Blizzard will step their game up, pun intended.
Could be worse. It could be FFXIV’s PVP.
Wild Growth is poppin, PvE is a blast, it’s the most fun classic has ever been imo.
Dunno what loopy world people live in where they can’t find groups. I run an alt raid every weekend that requires pugs and I have so many people trying to get in it’s wild.
I mean Wild Growth has more layers right now than it had at the beginning of the phase, so I don’t know. If people think 9 packed layers isn’t enough people then they are just impossible to please.
I do agree with the posters that PvP is a bit of a wash, the honor changes are great but it just isn’t well balanced. PvE is epic fun though.
Have you not been on era recently? it has less pop than sod but people are actually everywhere to be found and you can find dungeons and raids within 10 seconds of looking but ok
well same right back at you
there’s an alarming amount of uppity paladins not wearing dresses. it isn’t much of a cause for concern (yet) as they’re still a total meme. here’s hoping this continues into the next phase!
PvE leveling is super painful outside of boosting/incurions due to the leveling speed messing with the gold and gear you are normally meant to get. Forming low level dungeons is incredibly rough atm as well just do to the alt unfriendliness of SoD.
PvE max level is incredibly fun right now. They nailed this phase honestly. The event is a nice way to get gold quick and do meaningful quick pvp rankings.
PvP is a pure hell hole. Either you are being 1shot by pallies/shamans or your being memed on by a rogue.
Don’t get your reviews from forum trolls. Log into SoD and ask geared players if they’re having fun.
This has been true for every version of classic. Once people out level the content, they stop doing it. The issue is that sod has attempted to be alt friendly while avoiding THE one thing needed to actually be alt friendly…a rune vendor for alts.
Crystalline Conflict in ffxiv is better than anything SoD has right now.
But that’s also still agreeing that ffxiv pvp overall is pretty weak.
