Would love to see the research on this. Do you have a link to the study?
It didnât vanish, it stayed as part of the guilds property, in the guilds bank to be administered by the new guild leader. Wherever it went after administration of the guild was transfered to the highest ranking active member is up to the guild leader.
Donât need to cite sources for people who actually play the game. ![]()
We both know why your posting character is what it is.
Before you open your flapper maybe you should provide some data to back up what you say. Also read the whole thing of what I said, outside of personal banking guilds, which by the way normally only have a persons own toons in it, not a bunch of other peoples toons. Thats why they are personally banking guilds, you noob. So, before you start tossing around words acting like youâre a know it all, why donât you think before you speak their Bucky.
You have a very intelligent way of expressing yourself, Iâm impressed!
I prefer Buckees.
People donât invite others to their personal guilds, derp. Completely irrelevant as you canât get dethroned if no one but your alts are in the guild.
You sure about that? My guilds a personal guild that only exists to showcase my collection of greys in the bank vault. Iâm far from the only person in it.
Sometimes people want to join a guild because they like the name.

Most people arenât being harsh here. The system was put in place to protect the rest of the guild from a leader who goes MIA. Why should everyone else get screwed over? OP had every opportunity before their PC died to establish a succession plan in case of emergency and decided not to, which isnât considerate of the rest of their guildies at all.
I stopped after people arenât being harsh here. It is clear as day that it is. All this tough blah blah blah is not needed.
Thereâs a reason I said most, because GD is unable to grasp anything without a âNoTeVeRyâŠâ
Thereâs a reason you didnât bother to actually check what kind of guild OP was in, but rather chose to jump in blind to defend theâŠbraying crowd? Itâs a small social guild that has no raid progress. This isnât about the âteamâ coming together to overcome a missing leader. The new leader of OPâs guild has reduced everyone else to below rank 4. You can read a lot about this situation from that action alone.
If anything, guild progress indicates the opposite of what you folk with your theory about âsaving the teamâ are on about; this guild had raid progress a year ago, it has none now. Does that sound like the new GM was trying to âsave the teamâ, or does that look like someoneâs trying to access a guild bank?

Simple answer donât have people in your guild rank 4 or above and leave for more than 90 days and lose your guild and come to the forums looking for sympathy.
You will live to see this exact same logic employed against you to a horrifying degree in realms more important than Azeroth. Remember your words. ![]()
This is sound advice regardless of the situation.
If theyâre just a social guild I wouldnât expect them to have progression. Maybe they just run 5 mans, or PvP, or RP and want to use the bank and perks. Still no reason they should lose anything they contributed because OPs PC died.
Is this unfortunate for OP? Sure. But itâs good that there was something in place to account for it.
Well OP could have made sure someone took over who had a similar philosophy as him/herself, but chose not to. If the rest of the guild is unhappy with the new leader, OP can reach out and try to recruit them to a new guild.
Iâve NEVER run a guild where I didnât have a successor in an appropriate rank in case something happened to me.
Iâm 62 and already survived two strokes and a bout with kidney cancer.
But I was that way 17 years ago when I was healthy and young(er).
A GM is there to serve, not dictate (IMHO) and part of that is taking into account his own mortality.
Who lost something because of OP being afk for a year?
What was gained by the other person taking over?
Let me remind you: the guild was MORE active under OP, and is LESS active now.
When will you learn that detail-oriented folks never fall for these weasel-words youâre playing daft upon?
How do you go a year and not be able to fix a PC?
Iâm not sure how anyone can actually go without a PC for a year, I lose my mind if the internet goes out, let alone my PC not working. ![]()
Yeah PCâs are not hard to build at all, the internet about does it for you these days anyway, but sure I get they are not priority for some, I couldnât go without though.
He abandoned the guild. The game goes on even if the players donât. In this case, it worked as intended. Not everyone can afford to replace a broken PC, but to be away for almost a year is abandonment.
