The last time I played was in Shadowlands…I quit maybe half-way through that xpac. So, begrudgingly, I decided to come back and I purchased the pre-purchase for the next xpac. So now I have access to the current xpac. What is going on with the UI and Addons? It seems the UI has been totally redone. It literally took me a good part of yesterday to figure out how to “rotate the minimap” which was a basic option to pick on the menus. Addons seem to be a problem too. Addons like bagnon, Handynotes, NPCscan, etc are considered out-of-date and in red color if you try to enable them. I’ve tried looking up information on the forums but not seeing too much that actually answers my questions. Can someone please explain what has happened and can these addons still be used safely? Ohhh, also, I have noticed that tracking of quests does not seem to work correctly either. For example, I’m use to waypoints pointing you in the correct direction and you have your ant trail and even having the arrow on the screen but it seems it points/ant trail are in a different direct instead of showing me where to actually go. Any thoughts? Problem with new UI?
Because it was. They added in an entire edit system.
One of two things: they weren’t updated for the new patch that just came out or the authors didn’t change the patch number when they updated.
Bagnon is notoriously out of date now. Try LiteBag with a couple of their little mods. It’s great.
Out of date addons just means you makly get errors in game and have to reload your UI. Not all will do this though.
handynotes are just fine, use wowup to update (also add dragonflights version too), bagnon seems not updated to 2.0
bagnon seems not updated to 2.0, ppl have since moved to litebag
I’d use the standalone Curseforge, because WoWup isn’t able to pull from everything anymore. I honestly thought it was dead once the changes were made with Overwolf.
theres a version that also uses curses API now in exchange for an ad on side thats atleast muted.
also the curseforge standalone client doesnt seem to grab elvui for some reason
wowup does tho.
tukui client elv was on is gone now
A number of updates disabled some functionality addons used which is why it’s important for you to update the addons you use/used or find replacements as others have noted.
I just manually update as I don’t want to rely on an app to do it for me, given the direction those apps have gone. I go to curseforge, find what I want, download and install.
Though I may check out Wowup to see if it’ll make my life a little easier.
Edit: If you go to the menu (esc > menu) you’ll see there’s an Edit feature now. Some things have also been shifted around a bit and may not be where you were used to.
grab the wowup with CF functionality, so it looks elsewhere and curse.
There’s a standalone version of Curseforge. So it’s not linked to Overwolf.
