One of the biggest problems in WoW right now is a huge section of the population that “get off” on being a slacker. You know how some people play the AH and that’s “THE GAME” for them? For a lot of people, queuing for content only to afk through the whole thing is FUN for them. They chuckle at the end about how it’s “all so stupid, I did such-n-such content and didn’t even have to do anything.”
Not EVERYONE is like that, so when I see someone doing horrible dps in a LFG, I give them benefit of doubt. “Hey Hunter… do you have Fishing Pole equipped?”
I ask that, because I’ve made that mistake PLENTY of times! (before I made a macro that auto-swaps my Fishing Pole to my weapon on Mortal Strike. Every time I cast Mortal Strike, it insures I have my weapon equipped)
Posting because I was just running a TW and the Healer was doing 700 dps… and the Hunter was doing 600.
I didn’t call him out for low dps. This wasn’t a “BigD” issue. It’s just a fact some people ARE trying, but they make a simple mistake. That’s all I asked “Do you have Fishing Pole equipped?”
Of course, I got kicked.
I guess the majority vote read it as a BigD dps complaint, but nothing about that simple question is that.
Just tired of slackers whose every comment about being a slacker is “pffft whatever man, it doesn’t matter.” If it “doesn’t matter”, then don’t effing queue. Out of the 5 Timewalks I’ll do this week, 3 of them will be like this. There will almost always be someone afk-auto-attacking with the attitude of “pfft. who cares, it’s just TW.”
You don’t have to come Flasked with pots and +stat food, but at least play your chr. That’s not asking too much.

Haha! I’ve been that tank, not only Fishing pole but helm and overalls too.
Thing is I’d have laughed not kicked you.
Dude, you know the game as well as I do, you know that pug life is THE WORST, so don’t take it to heart.
You did nothing wrong, grab a coffee and go laugh about it!

Fortunately, I tend to quickly notice that my fishing pole is not considered a ranged weapon.
(Although really, it should be)

Thanks, I’m trying. I guess the frustration of TRYING TO HELP… only to get kicked is what flipped my switch.
+cheers+
edit: To help anyone else that fishes while waiting for a queue to pop… only to forget they were fishing:
#showtooltip Mortal Strike
/equip [worn:fishing pole] Corrupted Gladiator’s Greatsword
/use Lightning-Forged Augment Rune
/cast Mortal Strike
(I updated it once I got the LFAR so that I now always have that active, too)
The combat macro is coupled with the fishing macro:
#showtooltip Fishing
/equip Underlight Angler
/cast Fishing
So whenever I fish, I have Underlight. Whenever I’m in combat, I have my weapon.
In pugs I’ve seen so much stupidity I don’t even run dungeons anymore, I am just tired of it. I’ve seen people kick a group member for a reason that was only 2 letters and it made so sense even if it was some kind of made up acronym. I even asked my guildmate if they ever heard of this as if it was an acronym and none of them knew it (this was asking 50 people).
I just took the time out and left, I am not dealing with people that kick for no reason. Now I just enjoy questing in the world on my own with no more nonsense from people.
When I did do dungeons to avoid getting kicked myself I just never talked to anyone, just kept my dps up with everyone else and played my role and leave soon as it was over.
uh, I don’t fish, is there a reason you would bother to equip a fishing pole?
?
You have to… to fish. Is this a trick question? lol
edit: Now you mention it, maybe they DID change that to “just fish.” But there are benefits to the Underlight Angler, so that’s why I do that.

you don’t, you just use the spell

The +fishing skill on a pole makes a difference when fishing in open water. How much it affects your chance of rare drops is a bit fuzzy (it used to be fairly well-understood but between various tweaks and skill re-organizations I’m not feeling confident I still understand)

This is why Equipset macros are your friends.
My recommendation is to have a /use Repurposed Fel Focuser
macro for when you’re not doing consumable demanding content, and stick an /equipset [nocombat] set
at the end to make sure you’re good to go.
You can work [spec:x]
modifiers into the /equipset
part too if you’ve multiple specs with gearsets you play regularly.

Have you been posting this great advice since Legion, and just not updated it?
I had to “update” it when they slapped an arbitrary level ceiling on the
That was a separate infinite buff you could double up on.
Thing is, it’ll probably happen yet again to the 50k BfA version.
I have done it for part of a dungeon before. I was either really drunk or really tired…
