Beating a mage is so easy as a warrior

I just don’t understand…how come warriors think that beating the mages in PvP is near impossible?

Mages are so predictable. When facing a warrior, they are gonna do something like Cast Frost Nova, use blink to get some distance and cast Frostbolt right?

Now all you gotta do as a warrior is…

to die in roots and slows

You gotta be joking it’s so easy to destroy warriors lmao, they can’t charge in combat and if they use their in combat charge they are dead to blink. Literally nothing they can do but watch themselves die in agony

The onky way Ive consistently beat Frosticles is when their CDs are down, but then thats practically never because I just get novaed into chain bolts.

Why would a mage blink a warrior in nova when they haven’t even used intercept yet.

I mean I don’t PvP, and even I know mages shouldn’t blink if intercept is up.

I’ll tell you exactly how the fight goes down in a mage’s perspective:

  • Strafe jump the initial warrior’s charge. You would be stunned mid air but when you land will put a slight distance between you and him.
  • Nova into sheep. He will probably fear you to interrupt the poly. Ice Block (or WotF) off the fear and continue the poly.
  • Warrior is sitting in full sheep and he can’t break it with no PvP trinket. Get good distance on him. You can sheep him once more to get your Nova back.
  • Unload Frostbolts into him. If he intercepts, blink and it’s gg.
  • Style point if you kite him within 6-7 yard range so he can’t hit or charge you but this maybe hard with leeway.
  • If he gets close, Nova into Frb + CoC shatter combo.
  • Can probably wand and rank 1 Frostbolts the warrior to dead to add in more insults.

Well sorry if I sounded like trolling, but I was curious about warrior pvp against the mage class in general. I was being humorous but was looking for some answers in favor of warrior class.

In my experience, if the warrior manages to get hamstring debuff on the mage, the warrior has a chance.

  1. Free Action Potion gives the warrior immune to stun and movement impairing effects for 30 sec.

  2. Engineering stun Bomb.

I think warrior needs to hit the mage with like 2 skill shots = mage dead, being clothy and low HP class most mages are and all…

Really, I was just looking for some answers to this imbalance.

It’s like when a mage sees a warlock, the mage can run away
when a druid sees a warlock, the druid can run away
but it seems a warrior doesn’t have a choice when faced against a mage…

Theres ways around that. They can sheep you while your free action potion wears off. They can Ice block through it. They can go invisible. Ect…

A good warrior might beat a bad mage, but a good mage beats a good warrior 9/10 matches. If mage makes a bunch of mistakes the warrior might win.

The engineering net after a blink might get you a few hits. But the mage can ice block twice so…call a warlock, shadow priest or druid to help.

Well they can’t do that yet but you are right.

As far as OP goes Mages are a direct counter to Warriors especially a frost Mage.

A good Warrior can outplay a bad Mage but if we’re talking about two equally skilled players, the Mage will come out on top most of the time.

A half-decent mage will never, ever lose to a warrior unless the warrior has a top end sword and manages to get a lucky sword + crit proc, just big enough to throw the mage off of his game or to straight up one shot him

Best way to kill a mage as a warrior? Find a pally friend, get blessing of freedom, watch mage cry as he cant cc you, /sit macro on his corpse.

Warrior isn’t the anti mage, enhancement is.

Have rockbiter on, Rank 1 earth shock all of the polymorph with searing totem down and grounding totem, spam lesser heal in nova (doesn’t matter if they silence, storm strike is a melee attack), they will waste a GCD silencing you, when nova fades off you purge ice barrier and then 2 shot them.

Most mages will die in between deciding whether to keep trying to poly you or cast or gain distance. If they try to gain distance, just run the opposite direction.

Like I plan on solo pvping as a warrior, Pft. I bring a pocket healer or two and wreck peoples day.

To be fair, polly range is larger than ES. Fire blast the grounding, polly, burst from a distance since shaman cant get rid of the slow (i think its been 15y since i played shaman in vanilla). A good mage wont bother a global for ice barrier unless they time it for when u wpuld likely Storm strike to try and absorb knowing full well it will be purged. Ele/resto will have a much easier time since they can heal fairly well along with ranged damage.

Two shots with Rockbiter? You’re hitting a 2k hp mage with Sulfuras?

Edit: a good mage will only put up barrier when the shaman about to start his burst (CL casting, in melee and about to be hit with SS).

Sure, let me just blow 4 gold (the going rate of a FAP
on my server) every time I encounter some nameless mage out in the wild.

Besides, any mage worth their salt will just keep you sheeped for the duration of your FAP anyway, making it the worst 4 gold you ever spent.

If you’re going to drop money, far better to do it on Restorative potions, which cleanse magic effects like Frost Nova and Poly. At least that way the only counter baits out their Iceblock.
