Right now the BM rune effects all specs, Survival, Marks and BM. Because of that it keeps getting nerfed as it adds to the already great (or too great) DPS of Marks and Survival.
My idea is such:
Beast Mastery Rune
This rune adds 3 extra ranks in Endurance Training and Thick Hide if you have talent points in them.
2 extra ranks into Unleashed Fury if you have talent points in it.
3 extra ranks into Bestial Discipline if you have talent points in it.
If you have Intimidation Growl now also Taunts the target to attack it for 3 sec.
This will make it so Beast Mastery rune forces you to buy the talents and not just get the pet bonus for free. The Beast Mastery rune should primarily help beast masters.
It also is more focused on pet survivability and less on damage output, though overall it will be better then a Marks/Survival Pet.
These are rough numbers to convey the concept and shouldn’t be taken as hard numbers for the idea.
I don’t mind this idea, but the devs seem very averse to making pets any better at this point. I know you said your numbers might need tuning, but just wanted to point out that the current numbers you have here would effectively be nerfing the bm rune by another 2% damage. I’d really like to see a unique group buff tied to the rune while bestial wrath is active. That way bm can bring something worthwhile to the group while being lower on the damage meters, which is the direction the devs want to push it
I like the idea, though it might be a bit tedious/complicated for them to implement that.
This would make it more of a “40” rune but maybe, have the rune be what it is for now for all specs (Or updated to 15%), then upgraded to the 30%Dmg/30%Heallth/50-80% Focus regen once Bestial Wrath is taken as a talent.
I really think attaching this rune to BM talents is the best option, then you can tune it up without boosting Marks and Melee. (Which are both still topping the charts, because they don’t use the BM rune anyway)
This would be mostly fine. Though I do still think it doesn’t address the issue of identity between bm and sv, because they currently are just “which one does more damage as melee.”
Now that I think about it though, if they somehow tied HotL to bm talents as well (it gets 5% better with BW or something) as the bm rune, this would pretty effectively help seperate the spec identities. SV would still need some pretty major buff in something like carve though, because witgout being top melee damage, it just has no place to stand in this scenario (as well as the current in game scenario).
Edit: Another thing they could do is buff lone wolf to bring up non BM specs, but idk if that would make MM way too oppressive in pvp or not. when they’re already gods there
What other rune requires talent points to function? This seems like a roundabout way to make hunters set of trash runes even worse. Hunter has the most dead runes of any class.
