I’m super confused with bear druid gear. One addon will say pre-raid BiS is all “dps” gear but another addon will say I’m nowhere near crit/crush caps in that gear. What stats am I supposed to stack? Also holding aggro is dang near impossible rn too… =/
Early on the focus is stacking mitigation gear. Prioritize defense/resil until you’re uncrittable then use your other slots for better stats/hit/ect. Heavy clefthoof is a pretty goat’ed set early on (some subsidize this with pvp gear). Lots of quest items that are high armor/stam for bears too.
In terms of holding aggro (assuming you’re pressing the right buttons) it’ll just be rough for a while until you obtain better gear and weapon upgrades. You can only do so much. If DPS wants to play like they’re in M+ then they’ll just die and figure it out eventually.

Bears can’t get crush cap. Cobrascale head and heavy clefthoof are ur big craftables to focus on

The starter PVP set is an perfectly serviceable alternative because all that really matters to Bears is being uncrittable. And Bears have an easier time with being uncrittable via the Survival of the Fittest talent and Resilience. Once you have -5% crit chance from gear, you may consider dropping the SoTF talent and putting those 3 talent points elsewhere.
From there, it really doesn’t matter. Armor is arguably the best stat, then stamina. Then agility. Then defense. Then dodge rating.

As everyone said prior focus on mitigation early, you can build a set with more threat as you obtain more/better gear. It’s tough out there for feral druids right now especially in dungeons.

You only need 2.6% to not be crit, After that agi/stat/hit as needed. There sadly is differing opinion on BIS for bears but for the most part is simple. Certain items are almost needed for some of the harder heroics. Get your Earthwarden witn 35 agi.. Get your mechanar cap and ring from Hillsbrad. Helmet of the claw and u should be ready to go.

Mangle is your threat and tab target it to keep agro. Do this with lacerate and ONLY maul above 60 rage. Swipe is decent of u have threat enchant to gloves and idol from Strath undead lvl 60 (lol). But mangle and lacerate are top prio.
One more peice of advice, get tiny threat plates addon. Helps a ton with aoe tanking. You can see color changes before you lose agro.
