Bear group utility

So what am I bringing to the group? Make them run faster? Really now?

Oooh, a battle rez that the better tank has too, disorienting roar for an AoE interrupt that isn’t reliable because half of everything is immune…and, that’s it really. If you talent for it you get Ursol’s Vortex, which can be useful, but really, we don’t have anything else. We’re a less cool version of other tanks, with half the utility.

Comic relief.

Made another thread about the aoe disorient, but still want to rant about it. So it breaks on damage, ok, but when aoe/cleave is king it effectively instantly breaks. Swipe after you use it? Gg you just broke your own cc, not even gonna get made about dps breaking it, it’s just practically useless as a cc. So for all intents and purposes it’s a aoe interrupt, but wait, what’s that? It’s on the GCD… can’t use it reactively have to stop what you’re doing and wait to use it, if ever so slightly. Nvm you don’t get an actual interrupt until 60.

Tl:dr take that stuff off the gcd at the very least. Why not just make it like war stomp?

One time in a timewalking someone said ‘oh a bear Im glad people are still playing it’ and that made me feel special.

…proceeds to destroy the one instance we can still use fun things like our old moonfire legendaries.

We bring panic attacks to healers

As someone trying to get into m+'s as a new bear, I sometimes feel bad for healers. I’d imagine some of them want to say something but don’t have the heart.

You shouldn’t.

The reality is there are going to be weeks where the affixes work in our favor and others where the affixes going to be a complete pain in the backside. My personal opinion is Fortified+Teeming or Sanguine-based weeks are some of the absolute worst for us; particularly in higher keys.

A good healer will know how to handle Guardians. The problem is often that you’ll get a healer that expects you to be as self reliant as a Blood DK and then they suffer because they panic rather than playing it slow and steady.

The only advice I can give for new bears when it comes to M+ is to make sure you have the right Azerite traits and stat priorities – that will take you quite far by itself. If you don’t have those things, you will feel it.

Most importantly, if you have questions about what are the best traits to take for a given scenario; don’t hesitate to ask. Several of us do up to M15s regularly and can offer some solid advice on what we’ve found is best given a certain week’s affixes and dungeon you’re targeting.

The reality is once you start to get some better gear, you’ll notice that lower keys are extremely trivial for Guardians despite the community perception.

The biggest gap for Guardian exists on the higher keys where other tanks simply have a better toolkit where they can cope with mechanics without too much outside assistance where a bear severely requires help from their group.

I agree with you 100%.

The difference between Guardian and other tanks is outstanding. Luckily I have a group of friends that let me tank. We just started to scratch the surface into 10+. Necrotic, you have to find a way to drop your stack if your group isn’t willing to help.

Even if my group does help I still take vortex and kite and use Typhoon when needed.

My friend tanked a 7 on his Brewmaster… he just dropped Ring of Peace and backed up a bit. Easy peasy. The difference was outstanding.

I think bears do need some love, but in the form of active mitigation. Our current mitigation is horrible. It seems like it does less, lasts shorter, and has a longer CD.

Another issue is gear. From what I can tell, crit does very little for my tanking. Why is all of the gear crit based? I might just be unlucky or have my loot specialization set wrong (to guardian) but it gets really annoying. Crit for days. :frowning:

At least you get to look like a bear…
