Be honest, do you guys regularly make use of the "latency" indicator on castbar addons?

I’m finally getting to the point of picking a castbar addon and choosing what features to use and this latency feature strikes me as one of those things that sounds really nice, it’s something you feel compelled to add to encourage yourself to “get good” and make use of it to min max your casts, but probably something that realistically just adds clutter to the screen and distracts from important information more than anything haha.

So really I’m just curious how the rest of the community feels on this subject. Do you try to make use of this feature? Do you disable it in favor of a cleaner UI? Have you enabled it, and then proceeded to pretty much never change your gameplay based on it regardless?

I’m not even sure how in the best case scenario people would utilize this feature honestly. I mean I realized I can for example apply one of my poisons with a 1.5 second cast, and jump cancel at about 1.4 seconds of cast time before it completes and still get the poison to apply, so I guess that’s where the latency comes in right, it’s knowing how when you can jump cancel out of stuff without failing the cast, but in practical terms I just don’t know. Can anyone sell me on this feature, or do you feel like me in that it sounds good on paper but in actual gameplay, it doesn’t really do much?

I use it to monitor latency spikes, as it polls when casting, whereas the latency indicator I have on an LDB display appears to be an average over the last minute or two.

I’ve noticed Aimed Shot hit 700+ms a few times recently and been able to adjust to it.

Normally I ignore it and just keep my latency tolerance for spell queueing set to 400ms, but for those big spikes it does help a lot, provided you can react quickly enough.

Until they added spell queuing it was critical to know the latency on cast because it determined when you could begin your next spell. These days it’s not as useful unless you’re clipping channeled spells.
