Be Careful of Mythic/Mount Run Scams

Hello all! Just sending out a warning to my fellow Moon Guardians to watch out for a lvl 10 DK named Cheok. They were advertising Mythic Fyrakk Anu’relos runs today for a Horde Tichondrius guild named Mocus, but it ended up being a scam. I stupidly gave them the gold before the raid started, and by the time the stated raid time came around they logged and I never received the Battle.net invite they said I would get.

Looked on Raider. io and saw that the Mocus guild is “done with Fyrakk mount runs and any adverts from ‘us’ are a scam.”

Needless to say, I feel very stupid. I should have known better and done my due diligence. I guess I was too trusting because my other previous AOC/mount runs on the server were very positive. Now I’ve lost all my gold and any chance of getting Anu’relos before War Within drops, which is a huge bummer :frowning:

Anyways, don’t be me. Just wanted to post about it in case this helps someone else avoid getting scammed.

I’d submit a ticket to report the scammer if you haven’t already. Sadly Blizzard doesn’t return the gold but apparently they do ban the scammers at least.

Sorry you had that experience. I would definitely open a ticket with Bliz.

Thank you both. I opened up a ticket and included some screenshots of the convo I had with the person. Hopefully they’ll be able to take action on their account and prevent them from doing any more scams.

I experienced this once back when LK was active.

These scams can be reported if the players who advertise fail to provide the services offered upon payment. The player(s) involved are investigated and their accounts frozen/suspended while the investigation into their actions is evaluated.

Funds are generally returned to the player under 24 hours and the party involved is given a warning. If it is shown they have done so on more than one occasion they are banned for life and parties connected or involved with the suspect are given a warning to cease all actions or risk punishment as well.

No title, armor, or other is truly worth it for these promotions. Its all digital and you can always go back on later addons to get the items/titles/mounts.

Please note any mounts/gear/other will eventually make their way to the Black Market Trader. So its always a change to get or in the future end up on the Trading Post.

Sorry to hear you had a similar experience in the past!

This is definitely a learning moment for me lol. I know it’s all just digital, but with the mount’s drop rate drastically decreasing after War Within’s release, my thought was that “I could get the mount and enjoy it now, because who knows where I’ll be in 2-4+ years when the raid will be soloable.” Overall, it was silly and definitely not worth it.

I don’t expect to get my gold back, but it’s nice to hear that they sometimes return funds to players.

I have heard of this happening, if proof of promised services can be offered. Hopefully you will get it refunded - and I sure hope they ban the person who scammed you

Trust me, gold in wow can be tracked because it flows like water in a pipe no matter how many splits it takes. Its why they bust so many gold traders and spammers. And if they tried to use it to buy a game token for game time they also get that suspended.
