BC Timewalking Overtuned

CC should not be expected or mandatory in Time walking, full stop. It is possible for a class to queue for Timewalking and not have all of their abilities, some of which may be CC or AOE based. Timewalking should be just as easy as running over a heroic currently. Maybe the ilvl scaling needs to go up making us stronger making them easier to do, since the rewards for doing the Timewalking dungeons are so low right now. A dungeon that requires “coordination” should not be able to be randomly queued for by people who don’t have all of their class abilities.

These are blanket statements that apply to all Timewalking Dungeons, not just BC.

Content that does not require “coordination” should not be rewarding a piece of raid gear.

Even earlier this season when most of my btags were yet to get past 385-390 it was still shorter a tyrannical boss on a 11. I’m actually baffled on how you defend the buff done on 7.3.5, I didn’t need older content sets to have TW bc/wotlk done in a reasonable time. And most of the time it’s was me or me+a healer to queue, but random lfd dps was and is still often abysmal. So why is content that can be made 30-40mins long(and requiere stuff like interrupts and the likes) queueable via lfd then? It’s not a matter of me or others using their brain, it’s content being blatantly terrible to queue for even if you don’t have the time-reaver yet. I dinged a Paladin 120 the other day and without doing a single TW I increased his ilvl to 375 without even bothering to look at tw in less than 24 hours since I dinged 120. I used to do TW to gear up alts or help others or just to relax and have fun, but as long as bc/wotlk remains like this in not doing it again. If you feel this difficult is fine, remove it from LFD,because why people who wants to do this and prepare with TW gemmed gear but doesn’t have the time/patience needs to get grouped potentially with people who might as well be dead weight ? And my comparison remains because of the reward and stuff, even at 385 ilvl tyrannical bosses on a 10 season 2 never took too long to die, why TW bosses and trash needs to?
It’s not about “using your brain” or whatever, it’s about half of a content type being rendered useless and impractical to do for a lot of us. Your argument makes no sense.

For the sake of argument, i’m willing to grant that warfronts are an aberration, and should not be rewarding raid gear in the first place.

I think a more appropriate apples to apples comparison is the mythic dungeon weekly reward 4xM0. Much easier (read: quicker), and rewards a higher level item.

I suspect the reason for this is like a captain karazhan/LFR hero syndrome. They’re attached to the validation connected with mastering pseudo-challenging content… ie: challenging to people who are new to it, but doesn’t actually require much skill to complete.

You can hard carry people through timewalking.

Little feedback here.

On my 391 ilvl Pally here the mobs seemed very very overtuned
On my ilvl 371 Pally (human) it seemed almost perfect

The difference was I did the two time walking a few days apart. So either you did a ninja nerf or the groups were scaling incorrectly with gear.

In both instances the dps was roughly the same at the 800-1k range.

Doesn’t take too long to make a set. You can literally go to a vendor within: ICC, Trial of the crusader vendor, Old Dalaran vendor, TBC in shattrath vendor, MoP vendor, Cataclysm vendor and buy a bunch of gear that has sockets. Then go to the AH for gems enchants and done. Or while you’re farming siege of orgrimmar, save the gear and use those as I have done.

I’d rather spend more time building a set than wiping because I didn’t have a set.
Carrying those who don’t know, don’t care, or say a healer who was in full pvp and heals were beyond terrible.

You pretty much are the first person to say “wasted as much time…”. No one ever stated they hated my tanking and dps. It literally is stupid easy to build a set, but you’re ignorance somehow makes you feel better, enough to put people down.

I hit 15k dps on the mana wyrms in MGT, one pack at a time. Never was I below 1k dps overall, average 1.5k -2k overall. The only other people who DO beat me are the ones who are twinked out themselves.

I queue’d as dps with my twinked out apolyon, soul renderer’s…shattered halls in which i love to tank that place. The prot pally was going slow as molasses in -50 temps pulling 2 mobs at a time in the first entry hallway. I died due to threat like 3 times and I waited to dps and the healer was new to healing as he said.
I went prot and we double tanked. Got up to Netherkurse, I let him try to tank, he got low, my prot dmg aggro’d boss and stayed that way. I saved the protpally twice during that fight by intercepting and redirecting damage from him to me.

After boss, headed up the ramp and got ported to my garrison because I was removed from the group without a voting option. Yeah good idea…kick your top dps, whether be prot, fury or arms, not to mention top self heals. Oh and that’s right, saving the other tank.

Here’s what you (putting it nicely) new generation of players don’t understand and it’s completely understandable. Twinking for any old content isn’t actually twinking…THAT IS HOW THE GAME USED TO BE AND STILL IS (due to scaling, which is how it should be). NO one got into tbc heroics without some gems, enchants, food, potions, superior wizard oil, brilliant oil, mana oil. Let’s not forget HIT RATING. Even if you were level 70, you still needed hit rating of 202-204 so you wouldn’t get resisted, miss your spells or other. Let’s not forget socket colors, all gear back then (socketed) had RYB colors…so in order to get socket bonus, which most strived for, you had to use gems that matched the socket. Orange =RY, etc… God forbid I need to teach you kids the primary and secondary colors, you already don’t know how to write in cursive or drive a stick shift. Pretty soon, you won’t know how to flip a burger, or make change for a customer since everything is bought on amazon and digital money. Meta gems also had requirements, but were usually always met.

Infinite pushback on spells…who remembers being a warlock trying to cast seed of corruption on illhoof in karazhan when you’re constantly being interrupted. Or let’s see…the grinding of primal reagents to craft one piece of gear for shadow resist, nature resist, fire resist, frost resist…THIS IS HOW CLASSIC WILL BE. Except, BRD, Strath, Scholo, as well as big map, long dungeons will take you much much longer than TW is now.

My gems and enchants are the equivalent of your azerite gear w/ respect to the content…meaning…you wear azerite gear in BFA is the same as someone using gems enchants for older content.

Ever since the stat crush…each point of strength has become a bigger deal. So…let’s see…a prot war can equip 37(34+3(cogwheel tinker gears)) gems at one time, using 5str+4crit or 5str+6stam or 4str+4haste. That converts to 170 strength, 136 crit or haste, 204 stamina. Tinker gears BoE scales to 19 dodge, parry, haste, mastery, crit, vers, each. Using 3 of them up to 5 at one time including the helm from engineering. The BoP tinker gears scale to 27 (down from 31). This does not include enchants, trinkets, potions, food, flasks, runes, oils, procs from capes, rings, native weapon enchants, socket bonuses, and the stats from the gear itself

Yep, but you go ahead, keep whining about your trash GCD being 1.3 or more. There are plenty of options out there, but you’re not willing to do a one days worth of research. Doing 1.7k dps and the rest are doing 6-700; even the healer is doing dps, like 300.

BTW, tanking BT and being in the top 5 of dmg and sometimes 1st or 2nd…I must be doing something right. As far as heals on me, I was top heals (self heals) due to my wrists.

At around here I lost track of which side of this topic you’re on.

The tw dungeons in general are overtuned compared to what they used to be. Let’s just put it like that. There is a reason the queue time is much higher these days because they’re a chore and take time to complete. The gear isn’t very good unless you just leveled an alt that’s the only thing they’re good for(beside getting badges for silly “rewards”).

You probably just had a better group.

Also, some stats scale better then others, and especially trinkets.

This is especially obvious when you actually have a toon that level, as low level gear and trinkets have an extremely higher impact then at max.

But realistically, you had a better group.

Seconding. Good DPS will lock down problem mobs and the tank ends up taking a fraction of the damage. Hell, the healer can – when I tanked Shattered Halls, the healer was liberally throwing out Ring of Peace and I spent a third of the pull taking almost no damage because I just sat in it spamming my range-boosted AOE.

Not gunna lie, I didn’t read any of that tolkien novel that you wrote. Looks like you wasted more of your time.

Timewalking was way more enjoyable when old set bonuses worked still. The problem is that re-enabling set bonuses only for timewalking is likely too much work since tooltips/mechanics have changed greatly on current set bonuses. I’d love to see the return of old set bonus mix and matching though. It gives the players more chances to be creative.

As for actual changes to Timewalking, I’d like to see some changes for lower level players perhaps since they don’t have access to the same tools that max level characters have like full azerite equipment/talents–especially tanks.

In my opinion the mobs just have too much health. I find bosses fine, but trash takes such a long time. Even on my prot warrior using old legion legendaries (hello thundergod’s visage, OP) the dungeons just felt like a slog to me. Considering the rewards are pretty mediocre, I just feel like if the health of the mobs were reduced by around 15% or so they’d be more palatable.

Do you have a timewalking set for each event? How does this work, cause isn’t some of your gear low ilvl for maybe WoD?

I have gear ready kinda for WoD TW which doesn’t happen until May, so i’m not worried. I’m wondering what the ilvl of WoD tw will be, what we’ll be scaled to.

The ilvl of heroics is 137, 138? Mythic WF from Siege or Org is 132. I’d imagine SoO gear could be used depending on the scaled-to ilvl.

I have a bunch of gear, but no I don’t use a separate one for each event.

Most of it is different trinkets, different helms, different weapons, couple extra shields, different rings, different everything, but mostly they are the same piece, just enchanted and gemmed differently.
I like to think of me as being one of those shoppers who goes out and buys every bathroom cleaner product or every type of oil, etc… Performs tests and reports results, anything to squeeze that little bit more out, I try to find it.

How I got started with it was…when TW came out, I joined a custom premade group with my WoD gear…they told me to use old gear, legendaries, etc…and so yes, people farming old raid sets for bonuses was happening…until they botched them. While that sucked, it gave you freedom from locking in a 2 or 4 set bonus. Can mix and match anything. Once I realized that…I just kept exploring new ways to inc stats.
I don’t use that gear for running around in any content other than TW and helping with achieves where low damage is required…like “Strike!” for Garrosh.

As for how does this work…pause the video at 5 seconds to see the tooltip on the trinket that i use. View it on youtube and not through this crappy res video box. I have other videos as well, more to be uploaded. Just comparing and showing how they scale while in the instance.

Oh and one more thing…sometimes before pulls, I equip the 2 set from Legion for generating rage, use the ability, then back to tw pieces. Rage continues to generate after.
Some azerite talents for protwars look awesome, but I’d have to use the neck and I’m not ready to give up my Prydaz at the moment.

“Stupid retarded”

…Wow, you sure got me dude.:rofl::rofl:

Are you like 12 or something? You know WoW is rated T for teen, right?

This is a lie.

You cannot even enter Mana-Tombs on foot at level 60.

Pretty crazy when you gear for it. Just like MoP/WoD challenge modes in a way. Correct stat breakdown and in TW, correct use of broken Legendaries really helps out.

Also, loved the chat.
“I don’t have meters and I don’t care” lol :joy: classic.

I understand your frustration, but I disagree. It was refreshing to see tanks doing LoS pulls and having to deal with trash mechanics again. These Timewalking dungeons are tuned way back from the originals but Arc and SH were still nearly as fun as I remember them.

Warbringer O’mrogg got to go through much of his silly dialog before we killed him, that was cool.

O’mrogg’s heads talk during the whole fight with each other:

Aggro

  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: If you nice me let you live.
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: No, we will NOT let you live!
  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: Me hungry!
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: You always hungry. That why we so fat!
  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: Smash!
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: Why don’t you let me do the talking?
  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: Hey!

When charging someone

  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: You stay here. Me go kill someone else!
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: That’s not funny!
  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: Ha ha ha.
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: What are you doing?
  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: Me get bored.
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: Bored? He’s almost dead!
  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: Me not like this one…
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: Hey, you numbskull!
  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: We kill his friend!
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: I’m not done yet, idiot!

Killing a player

  • O’mrogg’s Left head yells: This one die easy!
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: That’s because I do all the hard work!
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: I’m tired. You kill next one!

Death

  • O’mrogg’s Left head: yells: his all… your fault!
  • O’mrogg’s Right head yells: I… hate… you!
