Battlenet Updates Broken

I’m not sure if this is the right place for this or not but here we go. So, I got to play a little on Friday night (central Australian time) after a minor update and things seemed to be fine. On Saturday I logged in to Battle.net to play Wow and it wants to update. Again. Irritating but not a great surprise since this seems to happen a lot.

It gets even more irritating when I get this message:

Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot.

Error Code: BLZBNTAGT00001389

Fantastic, right? So now what? Well I logout of Battle.net and go play a game on my phone for ten minutes and log back in only to have the same problem pop up. So this time I close everything down and restart my computer.

Still no joy. Same issue pops up again. I reported a bug but being that I was pretty frustrated it was admittedly probably less than helpful so that’s on me and I’ll wear that one. I gave up and went and played Fable for a few hours before I gave up for the day. Fast-forward to today (Sunday) and I still can’t update this damn game. That error-code I copied above? it’s a link to a Blizzard trouble-shooting page and I’ve tried all the suggestions and still getting that same damned error-code.

I did at some point have a brainwave and eventually found the “scan and repair” option in the battlenet app. There’s just one problem with that.

Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot.

Error Code: BLZBNTAGT00001389

/sigh. That’s right, it’s the same f—–g error code.

I’ve tried all the trouble-shooting suggestions to the best of my barely-computer-literate skills, even to the point of completely uninstalling and reinstalling battlenet and rebooting my computer several times and all I’m doing is getting more and more frustrated.

Any suggestions would be welcome, particularly if they’re helpful, or even to translate that gibberish into telling me what’s going wrong but I guess i’m playing Fable again tonight.

When the error happens, open task manager and close all Battle.net Update Agents, then restart the update.

Thank you for trying.

I gave your suggestion a go, if by “close” you meant “end task” and had the same error code pop up again. Even tried closing those down in the task manager and trying the scan and repair tool which looked like it might work for a moment before it too gave up.

Edit:

Out of curiosity I uninstalled Wow Classic and attempted to re-install. The same error code pops up for that too.
