" Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?"
This has been coming up every time I start WoW for quite some time.
Sometimes I say, “Yes”, sometime “No”, and sometimes I just “x” out of it.
What I do makes no difference.
I can’t see an update happening in any case.
I have reinstalled WoW, but still happens.
Is this harmless or should I be concerned?
PS: I have even done a clean install of Windows. Makes no difference.
This is a further update: As I previously said, I sometimes click “Yes”, and it appeared to cause no problem. Well, I’m not so sure now.
Something is turning off my “App & browser control” in Windows 11 Security. As a result, I have done another Windows Clean Install. This time I am not going to ever click “Yes”. I’ll click “No” every time and see if “App & browser control” remains on.
I still don’t know why the Battle.net Update Agent is doing this. Seems like a security concern to me. Will see if “App & browser control” stays on.
is it thet User Account Control (UAC) popup? you can set it to Never Notify. it’s a windows setting that is designed to prevent unauthorized changes to Windows. You can change the UAC behavior by opening the Control Panel > System and Security > Change User Account Control settings.
UAC says, 'Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer".
That’s the default setting.
I don’t want to let apps make changes to my computer without my permission.
I’ll just leave it as is rather than opening up my computer to malware.
Thanks.
i have it disabled but i’m using IObit Advanced SystemCare Ultimate that has antivirus built into it (system protection, privacy protection.browser protection etc) it automatically stop any malware or virus that’s out there. windows defender is ok but some virus /malware can disable it and sometimes UAC does not stop it
This sounds like bloatware tbh
Since the Certificate is issued to Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and looks valid is all aspects. I have no problem with clicking “yes” or “no” or just x’ing out of the window. Seems to make no difference. In any case, I trust Blizzard.
