This occurred last night.
PC: has Windows 11 home edition and was up to date based on Windows Update.
I was having some wow issues and decided to uninstall and re-install. I did the uninstall from the Battle.net Launcher’s WoW page where I clicked on the “sprocket” next to the Play button and selected Uninstall from there. After uninstalling I checked my Wow program directory and saw that it left the Interfaces folder with screenshots and my addons but it had deleted the WTF directory and all the files in there. The directory was there before I uninstalled but it was gone.
Considering the files in the WTF directory are not created by the game installation this went against all expectations of what the uninstall should have done. I would categorize this as a bug.
And no, the deleted files were not in the Recycling bin. Thankfully I backup the WTF directory and didn’t lose anything critical, but the uninstall should never deleted that directory.
