Any time I open the battle.net launcher since this last patch it tells me there’s an update. To which, I click, it spins for a good 30-45 seconds or so, then the button changes to Play (with no work being done as far as I can tell).
I used to get this every now and again on my Mac. Now I get it all the time since the patch. Sometimes even while it’s still open and I close the game but leave the launcher open! My windows rig doesn’t do this at all.

I’ve had to click update after exiting the game or relaunching battle.net for a full decade or so now. I expect it to stay that way the next decade as well, given the sentiment toward mac support being “just give it the bare minimum of support”
Wish I had a better answer but I don’t see them fixing this, ever. they pretty much only fix issues that prevent playing entirely.
Oh man. It just got worse this last patch so I expect I’m gonna be in the same boat now
Yes, it is definitely worse now since the patch. Previously it would make me update maybe once a day. Now it’s every time the launcher is sitting for 5 minutes.
I’m also in the infinite update loop. I eventually turned on auto-updates just so I don’t have to endlessly approve these non-updates.

I already went this route too. It’s not going to fix anything but at least I will be less frustrated.
Same here. I’ve played this game for over 20 years, and this lack of decent maintenance is as bad as I’ve ever seen. Money transferred between characters has disappeared, trans mogs paid for and then disappearing. Inept.

Yep, been happening for years, they clearly don’t care.

Same thing here. Every single time it’s crazy
microsoft windows is in an infinite update loop
My friend is having this problem on his m2 and he also keeps getting a popup he is out of memory. Even after dumping files and turning off everything running , it still says he is out of space. If he gets the game to run , launcher will do another bogus update and POOF no memory again.
( fear not , I may buy him a new mini with a bigger SSD, but we think this memory issue is bogus)
out of memory is not actually a bug, fake updates are but out of memory your friend probably just needs to free some disk space. free space must b at least double the installs size of a game. it is annoying to have to have like 150GB free for a fake patch, BUT for any real patch he’d have same problem. if game is 75GB it needs 150 free that’s usually the case for most installers. he probably has smallest internal storage size and should really consider external SSD

Came to forums during maintenance to see if anyone has a fix for the constant updating. It also happens to me every single time I go to login. I can’t remember if it started during MOP Remix, but I know it’s been since TWW launch at least. Extremely frustrating and I’m sick of it.
Click update (wait for the error message) and then I can click play. Every. Single. Time. No blue posts on this issue that’s affecting mac users (and apparently has been affecting others longer than me)?
My issues are the ridiculous memory leak and that I have to put my credentials in and select the game I want to play each time I restart the client; by select game I mean choose Anniversary and such.
It has a very ridiculous memory leak on my M4. When I first start it is less than 300m but within a day or two it has passed 1gig and I have had it over 10g.
Why are you leaving the Battle.net app open? Doing so serves no purpose as WoW has Battle.net chat built in. Set the Battle.net app to close when launching a game and you won’t have this problem or any of the other numerous problems caused by leaving it open. It’s a resource hog and Agent isn’t exactly known for playing kosher when left open constantly.
