Battle.Net Launcher Couldn't Recognize WoW

I turned on my PC, launched Battle.net as usual, and clicked on WoW to play. But instead of showing the “Play” button, it said “Install.” I thought that was strange, so I tried to locate the game folder on my SSD. When I did, it said it wasn’t the correct version of the game. I then opened the retail folder on my SSD, only to find that all the folders were empty, out of nowhere. Now, I have to reinstall the entire game—all 103.55 GB of it.

What the heck is happening?

Update: I’ve decided to do a clean sweep and remove any remaining World of Warcraft folders. I checked to make sure none of them contained any files, and they were all empty. I’m reinstalling the game now—hopefully, this will fix the issue.

Do a file search for wow.exe

Run battle.net from icon on desktop.
Right click … the icon…run as admin…
A box should pop up and ask if you wish this to make changes … Accept.

i already tried this, the data files for the game just ceased to exist.

Do you have another computer or backup recovery?
Check your trash?

i don’t unfortunately :frowning:
and yes i did, idk man im just as confused as you.

Maybe someone local to recover files to help you?

i’ve decided to just do a clean slate and reinstall the game, so its all good, its just concerning this can even happen, maybe my game folder got corrupted?
