Battle.net launcher can't find retail WoW

I went to log in to my Battle.net program today, where everything was working fine yesterday, and it suddenly forgot my login and where my games were saved. Okay, no problem, I’ll just find them manually, I’ve done that before. By manually navigating to the program folders for Hearthstone, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm and Burning Crusade Classic, they’re all in there.

What it can’t seem to see is retail WoW. I’ve pointed it to C:\World of Warcraft, to c:\World of Warcraft\WoW Retail, to c:\World of Warcraft\WoW Retail\_retail_ (this last one is where the wow.exe program actually is), and it gives me a big “Bzuh?” every time.

I can launch the game from the wow.exe file without Battle.net just fine, but I prefer the convenience of a saved password and to at least glance at the news items in Battle.net. I’ve tried deleting the Battle.net folder and the cache as per the website and reinstalling, and that just got me right back to where I was to start.

What folder am I supposed to be searching for that’ll make it see the program?

Just to update myself, I just went ahead and let it install the game to where it wanted the game to be (c:\World of Warcraft\_retail_) and moved over my WTF, Interface and Screenshots folders into the new directory and that brought it up again.

Which is about the third time that I can remember that the game spontaneously decided that the folder structure had to be different or it was going to take its ball and go home, but whatevs.
