Battle.net app won't launch, can I still update WoW?

I upgraded to Monterey hoping that it would fix some issues I was having with WoW but now Battle.net won’t even launch at all.

I removed all battle.net and blizzard files from /users/shared, ~/library/application support, ~/library/preferences. I removed the app itself. I downloaded a fresh installer. still nothing

So my game runs now if I go into the application folder and retail but it will stop very soon once the next patch/hotfix is out

So, what do I do? I just started a guild. I have made plans to help some friends this weekend. Do I just stop playing wow until I get through the ticketing process long enough for someone to give me a fix?

If anyone has a fix please let me know

I’ve opened a ticket but the last ticket I opened when I couldn’t launch my game took 2 weeks to be replied to and they just said “looks like you’re good” and left the generic bs about reinstalling the game as advice. So not counting on that!

I’m not sure how to fix, but I would recommend also posting in the battle.net app’s own forums:

I posted in the most recent relevant thread there and someone on the blizzard team immediately closed it without replying.

Ah, I saw that post. The original post in that thread was from 2020. Probably Bliz thought the info in that post was too old and shouldn’t be necro’d anymore. (Though the post before yours was less than a month before you posted, so I see how you might’ve missed how old the thread was.)

I think making a fresh post might still be beneficial to you.

I think it speaks volumes that someone on the staff had time to disable an answer to my question but not give any help

I got a response to my ticket in record time … marked as resolved with instructions for windows to reinstall the game… not even battle.net

I clearly said in my email that I’m on a mac and I’ve already tried reinstalling at least 5 times

That’s not support that’s just trolling

here is the ticket “resolution” in full:

A Game Master resolved your ticket, and left the following response:

Heya removed!

My name is Tech Specialist Game Master removed. I am sorry for the long delay, tons and tons of new players are hopping in to the games and having fun. We do hope that you understand and hope this reply finds you well.

It looks like you got in now!

If you still have an issues though, On this one, I would want to uninstall the game, delete the folder it was installed in.

Uninstall the app, delete the folder the app was in.

Clear the temp files for the app, Perform Steps 1-5 of this article: https://battle.net/support/article/30304

Do not reinstall yet but follow these additional steps:

  1. Open file explorer/file manager
  2. Type the following into the address bar (not the search bar): %APPDATA%
  3. Delete the Bnet and blizzard folders inside the appdata folder if they exist.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with %LOCALAPPDATA% and %TEMP%
  5. Empty the recycle bin.

After this do a computer restart before the game reinstall.

Thanks for giving us a chance to work with you.

EDIT:

Something changed. I didn’t do anything. A short while ago I couldn’t open battle.net and replied to that ticket above. I tried it again about 20 minutes after replying to the ticket and was going to see if I could troubleshoot more and it magically started working. Maybe my ticket response reached someone who actually wanted to help me … so thanks to whoever you are out there!
