Battle.net App Stuck on "Waiting for Another Update" Even though nothing else is installed

I uninstalled wow today to try and fix some performance issues, and the Blizzard launcher is struggling to reinstall it. It will download a little data, it’ll say “waiting on update”, start again, say “waiting on update” again, and the loop continues. The game does reinstall, but at an extremely slow rate and I need to have my User Account Control settings disabled completely or that pops constantly.

Things I’ve tried:

  • Uninstalling Battle.net and reinstalling it
  • Cleaning up registry
  • Deleting the ProgramData for battle.net.
  • Uninstalling steam and all my steam games and reinstalling them. Steam reinstalled and the game I chose to reinstall (Dead by Daylight) reinstalled without any issues at all.
  • CPU/GPU usage ranging from 2%-0%

If anyone has any advice on what could be causing this and how to fix, i’d greatly appreciate it.

Do a pause on install.
In menu… Never update automatically as well as not start on start up of computer.
Also the speed settings.
Turn off any Addon managers.

Reboot computer.

Right click on Battlenet.exe and run as Admin.
Up top is a download manager icon?
Click on that and not the big update … Where PLAY should be.

This should get the download to come in.
Good luck.

I appreciate the reply. However, I’ve also done all of this - it seems to just be getting constantly hung up on something. I’m not sure what.

I would try the Beta for Battle.net.
In menu for battle.net … On left side at bottom.
Beta … Click on that.
Accept the notice…
This might get battle.net going.

I was able to resolve this. I had to partition off part of my hard drive to a new drive , run cmd as admin, and then do the following commands:

net stop winmgmt
winmgmt /resetrepository
net start winmgmt

After that I was able to install the bnet app and install wow.
